Thursday, October 18, 2012 in the chapel of Mul-hearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Danny Mcll-veene officiating. Interment will be held in the Start Cemetery. Mrs. Coughran was born on October 30, 1924 in Wisner, LA, to the union of Judson Carey Ellerbe Sr.

and Mary Martha Gordy Ellerbe, and died after a short illness in West Monroe, LA. She was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church in Winnsboro, LA, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Mrs. Coughran also retired from the state of Louisiana Welfare Department and volunteered at the Glenwood Medical Mall. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Aunt Skeebie is preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Andrew Coughran; son, Richard "Rickey Carey Coughran; parents; brother, J.C. Ellerbe, sisters, Nellie Mae Cruse and Martha Ann Winters; and nephew, Walter Carey Ellerbe. Survivors include her nephews, Elbert Meredith Cruse, and Bryan Keith Winters; nieces, Alice Marie Cruse, Janie Denise Ellerbe and Nancy Carol Fletcher; numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Coughran's great nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Ernest Elton Humphries will be held at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens, West Monroe at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 18, 2012 with the Rev. Braxton Humphries officiating. Mr. Humphries was born on March 9, 1951 to the union of Ernest C. Humphries and Dor-cus Marie Thompson and passed from this life on October 15, 2012 at St.

Francis Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Humphries served in the U. S. Marine Corp, was a Vietnam Veteran and a member of the VFW and DAV.

He was a retired surveyor for S. E. Huey Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry and son-in-law, Dustin Roper. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 12 years, Martha Herrick Humphries; daughters, Mechell Bezzard, Angelic Cicala and husband, Chris; siblings, Gary, Rita, Sara Humphries, Lewis Leggett and Carolyn Yuenger; grandchildren, Gabri-elle and Harliegh Bezzard, Devin and Jared Roper; nephew, Garrett Humphries; nieces, Rachel Humphries and Heidi McHaffie; sister-in-law, Mary Jarrell, and many close friends.

He was born July 17, 1913 to the late Captain Louis Herbert Swayze and Mildred Turner Swayze. Mr. Swayze graduated from Neville High School and then attended Northeast Center of LSU, and obtained a degree from Louisiana Tech University and a Masters in Fine Arts from Northeast Louisiana University, where he later taught art.

He was a gifted professional artist and was the last of the Golden Age comics' artists, having drawn and written the Captain Marvel series from 1941 until his entry into the US Army during World War II. His gift for music was recognized by his Army commander, who introduced him to Bing Crosby. He then played guitar for Bing Crosby's concerts for the troops. Following his discharge from the army, he returned to Fawcett publications in New York where he resumed work on the Captain Marvel comics. He later returned to his hometown of Monroe and continued his work on several comic strips until he was hired by Olin Matheson to start the art department for their packaging division.

Mr. Swayze married June Bloomer and they raised five children in Monroe. He was elected to the Ouachita Parish School Board, and was Vice Commander of the American Legion; he coached little league baseball and mentored many young people in the fields of art and music. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, June Bloomer Swayze; daughters, Judy Blackman, Desha Swayze and Courtney Eckmann; son, Chris Swayze, M.D.; sons-in-law, John C. Blackman, and Douglas Edc-mann; daughter-in-law, Sandra Swayze, M.D.; grandsons, John Tolar III and Matt Murrow; granddaughters, Judith Desha Tolar Thomas and Courtney Rebecca Smith; and great niece, Jan Swayze Curry.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Monroe with Dr. Larry Stafford officiating, on Wednesday October 17, at 2:00 pm.
