Miss her Is Honored At Shower Miss Bonnie Izer was entertained a surprise kitchen shower recently given by Mrs. Robert Pressel and Miss Janet Pressel at the lattcrs' home at 1861 Pennsylvania Ave. Miss Izcr will wed Mr. Duane J. Kinslow on Sunday, August 16, at Washington Square Methodist.

Church with Reverend Charles LoFew officiating. Gifts for the brjde-to-be were arranged from white slreamen attached to pink and white parasol. Refreshments were served from the dining table which was centered with a shower cake and flanked by lighted tapers. Reunion Is Staged By Stockslagers The Hagersfown City Park provided the gathering place for the thirty-ninth reunion of the Stockslager Clan on Thursday. The president, Paul Stocks- Jager, was in-charge of the afternoon program which included prayer, an address by the Reverend Donald Warrenfeltz, a solo by Norma Jane Knode and a reading by Mildred Itneyer. The following persons were awarded prizes: Mrs. Emma Mort, oldest lady present; Robert Day, oldest man present; John Lee Knode, youngest child; Mr. and Mrs.

Frank Stockslager, couple married the longest; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Day, family coming the greatest distance. The elected officers for ths next reunion include: President, Paul Slockslager; vice president, Francis Stockslager; lecretary, Nellie Lytton, and treasurer, Hoy Stockslager. The group games and contests prepared and conducted by Edna Watkins, Lorraine Burke and Mildred Itneyer.

Benjamin Williams, eon- suiting rosarian for the American Rose Society, who resides in Washington, B.C., presided. A number of new applications for membership were accepted, following which Mr.

Williams stressed the importance of being affiliated with the American Rose Society. he local, society, having fulfilled all of its requirements for membership, voted unanimously to be affiliated with the national group. Another important highlight of the business session was the election of officers and the following results were recorded; president, Bernard Bargiel; vice-president, Dr. John H. Kehne; secretary, Mrs.

Gcnevieve Mease; treasurer, Mrs. James E. Bryan. Three directors were also elected, to serve a term of three years, including H. F.

Mease, Richard Olsen and Sam Brown. The by-laws of the society were read and adopted by the membership. Mr. Williams also gave a brief talk on the various phases of rose culture including the purchase of bushes, method of planting, spraying, fertilizing, and soil deficiency. He also discussed the effectiveness of the new fungicides (hat are now on the market.

Sam Brown, of the C. L. Brown 4 Son Nursery, Carlisle, extended an invitation to the group to hold the next meeting at his nursery on Sunday, Sept. 6. The members were requested to pack their own box lunch and Mr.

Brown promised to furnish the beverage snd dessert. A very interesting a was planned for that partcular meeting. Door prizes, donated and awarded by Williams, concluded the activities for the evening. Church Guild Holds Picnic On Monday August meeting of ihe Women's Guild of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Halfway, was held on Monday. August 10, in the form of a family picnic.

Over 100 people attended the event which was held on the grounds, of the Homewood Church Home. -Following a delicious covered dish supper, vesper services were conducted by Christian Service department. Mrs. Earl Shank, chairman, used the theme, "Christianity in the Home." A period of recreation and fellowship concluded the evening. The regular September session will be prepared by the Missionary Education Department on the theme, "Group Tension." Homemakers Of Bridgeport Stage Picnic The Bridgeport Homemakers' Club held Its annual picnic on Tuesday evening in Hagcr Park.

A delicious picnic supper was served to 65 members and guests. The next regular meeting of the club will be held on Tuesday, September 1. DAVID ALAN WACHTER A lovely summer wedding ceremony wai solemnized on Friday, August the fourteenth, at three o'clock in the afternoon, uniting in marriage Miss Roberta Lynn Snyder and Mr. David Alan Wachter.

Trinity Lutheran Church was the scene of the nuptial service which was performed by the Reverend Wilson P. Ard, D. before a large assemblage of friends and relatives. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Robert 0. Snyder, 110 Culvert Terrace, this city. Mr. Wachler is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

William C. Wachter, 750" Fountain' Head Road, this city. Mrs. Alton Geesey, organist, presented a recital of wedding music and accompanied Mrs. J.

D. Collins, vocalist. Escorted to the altar and given in marriage by her father, the bride was gowned in snow-flake white silk organza accented with Chanlilly race and pearls. The gown of cess lines boasted a scoop neckline, long sleeves and back interest of a sweep train. She added a crown of seed pearls and a fingertip veil, and carried a white orchid intermingled with white roses and greens.

of honor was Mrs. Patricia A. Turchi, Baltimore, while Miss Amy K. Muncaster, Pittsburgh, was the maid of honor. Both attendants chose dresses of silk organza iover taffeta in grapefruit blue.

They added matching hats with veils and carried bouquets of white shasla daisies. Miss Judith C. Fisher, Baltimore, and Miss Lynda M. Strauss, Baltimore, were the bridesmaids. They attended in gowns of romance blue organza over silk taffeta and completed their costumes with calottes fashioned of French petals of matching organza with nose veils.

As floral accents they added bouquets of mixed flowers of various hues. Miss Judith Saum. G10 North Potomac Street, was the flower girl. Mr. J.

D. Collins, Shepherdstown, West Virginia, was best man for Mr. Wachter. Mr. Robert C.

Wachter, Florida Avenue, and Mr. Dennis Wachter, Fountain Head Road, both brothers of the bridegroom, and Mr. John W. Snyder and Mr. James R.

Snyder, both of Calvert Terrace, brothers- of the bride, ushered the w.edding guests. For a wedding trip to Ocean City, New Jersey, the bride changed into a royal blue print dress with a cut-away back and full skirt to which she added white accessories.

Upon return the couple will reside at 22 Ridge Lane, Lcv- itfou-n, Pa. Mrs. Wachter is a graduate of Hagerstown High School with the class of 1955 and Dickinson College with the class of 1959. She is a member of the faculty of the Pennsbury Schools, Yardley, Pa. Mr.

John Dorsey To Speak In Area Church John Dorsey, who recently returned from London, England, after a year's study on a Rotary Fellowship, will be the guest speaker at Trinity Lutheran Church, Boonsboro, at the 9:45 a.

m. service tomorrow. Before returning to this country, young Dorsey spent .30 days traveling through Russia, in his talk Sunday, he will give his observations of his Russian tour. This will be one of his first speaking engagements since his return to his home in Sharpsburg. The public is invited to attend the service.

Meeting Changed The meeting ot the Willing Workers Class of Grace Evangelical i Brethren Church originally scheduled for Monday, August 17, -has been postponed until Monday, August 24, The meeting will take place At 7:30 p. m. at the church. Approximately two hundred former pupils, teachers and their families of the Mooresville Public School gathered for the third annual school reunion last Sunday afternoon in the grove near the school. The Mooresville School was one of the oldest one-room schools in Washington County and was closed about twenty years ago, when the' pupils were transported to other schools by bus.

The school is now being used as a church, and is located in a district rich in Washington County history. Former teachers present for ihe reunion were; Mrs. Daisy (Martin) Zuck, Mrs. Mae (Koogler) Athoff, E. McLucas, Harry Keefcr and William Byers.

Mrs. Zuck, now in her eighties, taught in the school sixty years ago. Mr. Byers svas the last teacher to hold classes in the school before it was closed. Many of the one-time pupils of the little school who attend, cd the reunion are well up in (heir seventies and eighties.

They recalled many Incidents which occurred during their years as students, as did the former teachers in brief talks. Elected as officers of the reunion organization were: Grover C. Hull, president; William Byers, vice-president; W. Murray, secretary, and Frank Shives, treasurer. The following committees appointed: Building, Frank Weller, Saul Kesfer and Alfred Shives; memorial and welfare, Stanley a Perry Hull and Mrs.

Mary Shives. Through the courtesy of Rueben U. Darby of the Darby Lumber Company, a piece of land situated across the road from the school was given to the reunion association as a meeting place for the reunion group. Members of the organization are planning to develop this site into a community park. A sizable donation was given during the reunion for the erection of a large pavilion, rest rooms, etc.

The community in which the Mooresville School is located is about five miles northwest of Indian Springs. Couple Wed In Alaska Mrs. Bessie Conley, Williamsport, announces the marriage of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Conley Buchanan of Anchorage, Alaska, formerly of Washington, D. to Mr.

Patrick O'Donnell, also of Anchorage. The couple were married on the eighth of July at seven- thirty o'clock in the evening in the Anchorage Catholic Church. For her wedding, the bride chose a beige street-length dress and coffee colored accessories. After honeymooning in Fair-, banks, Alaska, the couple are now residing in their newly- furnished apartment on Anchorage, Alaska. Mrs.

O'Donnell is employed with the Bank of Alaska in Anchorage, and Mr. O'Donnell is a civilian employee with the United States Air Force and travels throughout the state of Alaska. Sunday School Class Honors Guy Harne A surprise birthday party honoring Guy Harne was given at his home in Clear Spring 'on Saturday evening, September 8. The party was planned by thd Young People's Sunday School Class of Miller's Tabernacle, of which Mr. Harne is teacher.

Supper was served to about 50 guests during the evening. Mr. Harne received many nice gifts. '49 Class Sets Reunion Sunday The tenth reunion of the Class of 1949 of Boonsboro High School will be held in Shafcr Memorial Park on Sunday afternoon at three o'clock. A picnic supper is planned and games will be played.

All members are urged to be on hand. Sprecher Reunion The annual Sprccher reunion will be held August 23 at the of Arthur Sprecher, Smithsburg. All relatives and friends of the family are invited. The affair will begin twelve-thirty. Games will be played and prizes will be awarded.

WOMEN Weddings Engagements Club News Saturday, August IS, 1959 Hagerstown, Maryland Judges At Hagerstown Fair List Winners Oi 4-H Foods Exhibitions Washington County's. 4-H girls have had one of the most sizeable displays in recent years in the Great Hagerstown Fair just concluding. Attesting to their culinary abilities are rows of jewel-toned canned fruits, vegetables and meals in the household department, as well as mouth-watering displays of heavily-frosted cakes, pies, cookies, breads, etc. Judges in this department have been hard at work all week trying to pick the best of the 4-H entries, and onlv yesterday completed the -task of placing ribbons on the individual exhibits. A list of the first-nlace blue ribbon winners in the canned foods exhibits appears below.

Winners in other departments will be published next week since space does not permit a complete listing in today's newspapers. Mrs. Auxiliary To Fire Comnany Plans Supper The Ladies Auxiliary to the Funkstown Volunteer Fire Company' has scheduled its regular meeting for Monday, August 17, at the fire hall. A covered dish supper will he served at 6:30 p. m.

The auxiliary will provide meat, rolls and butter for Ihe meal. Each member is asked to take an article of food for the menu.
