WONDER OF THE WOULD Friday through June 29 Somerset Valley Playhouse 689 Amwell Road (Route 514) Neshanic $14, $12 seniorsstudents (908) 369-7469 www.svptheatre.org 2 By LAURIE GRAN1ERI STAFF WRITER. Is Cass Harris breaking out of a sheltered existence? Is she breaking up with her fuddy-duddy husband whose bizarre Barbie fetish has prompted her to hop a bus to Niagara Falls? Or is she just breaking down? In David Lindsay-Abaire's comedy "Wonder of the World," which ran in 2001 at the Manhattan Theatre Club with Sarah Jessica Parker in the role of Cass, it could be all of the above. The play charts the capricious 30something's journey from Park Slope, Brooklyn, to Niagara Falls, armed with a to-do list. Among the more than 200 things she is set on accomplishing: spinning plates on sticks, having a baby, parachuting, eating venison and acquiring a sidekick.

Cass does acquire a sidekick on her journey north, albeit a suicidal, alcoholic one: Lois, a sour antidote to Cass' swooning sweetness. "I like her spirit," says Reba Holley of 1 lAVAr 1 Pennington, who plays Cass in the Somerset Valley Playhouse production, opening Friday in Neshanic. "She tries to live life to the fullest. She's not holding back anymore." Director Michael Schuller of Hillsborough compares Cass to Chrissy Snow from the TV sitcom "Three's "She's a dumb blonde," he says. Or maybe she's just a determined blonde with stars and waterfalls in her eyes, single-minded in her pursuit of Neujs Director Michael Schuller leads a rehearsal of David Lindsay-Abaire's quirky comedy about a woman who leaves her husband for adventure in Niagara Falls.

Call By MARY ANN BOURBEAU STAFF WRITER When Greg Garbowsky auditioned as a bass player with a start-up band, he had no idea where it would lead. He was a college freshman and didn't have clear-cut career goals, so with the blessing of his parents, he decided to give it a shot. The South Plainfield resident went to meet the members of the still-unnamed band.

"They gave me 15 minutes to learn two songs," he said. "A few days later, they called and said I got the job. Since then it has pretty much changed my life completely." That would be an understatement, to say the least.
