ADVERTISING SUPPLEMENT TO THE SALINA JOURNAL SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13.1996 3 THE LIFE UNDERWRITER TRAINING COUNCIL 7625 WISCONSIN AVENUE • BETHESDA, MD 20814 • (301) 913-5882 • FAX: (301) 913-0123 Meeting Client Needs - A Personal Insurance Series introductory course that shifts the focus to the viewpoint of the buyer in purchasing life insurance with a concentrated review of the five steps of the buying cycle. It focuses on identifying the buyer's insurance needs. Personal .Estate & Retirement Planning - The Advanced Sales Series course offering top-of-the-line techniques for estate creation and conservation using life insurance while exploring personal retirement planning needs and funding methods. LUTC Celebrates 50 Years of Education One of the big advantages of belonging to SALU is the opportunity to take courses offered by The Life Underwriter Training Council. These courses meet once a week for 21/2 hours for a period of 13 weeks. After an agent has taken 5 courses which equal a total of 300 study and practice equivalents they may apply for an industry designation to be added to their name of LUTCF. Currently our association is planning on offering 2 classes which start the week of October 14. The moderators for the courses are agents who have been in the insurance business for quite a number of years and most of the agents attending courses also have many years of experience so it is a great learning opportunity for all involved. The courses we are offering are "Meeting Client Needs", and "Personal Estate and Retirement Planning". Meeting Clients Needs shifts the primary focus to the viewpoint of the buyer in the purchase of life insurance. It is a concentrated review of the 5 steps of the buying cycle. The other course we are offering, Personal Estate and Retirement Planning is an advanced course working in estate planning, taxation, personal planning markets, how to help clients create and conserve their estates and plan for their retirement years. Anyone interested in taking the courses please notify the current chairperson, Jean Curry, LUTCF at 823-5129. Courses that will be offered in the spring are Multiline Skills and Professional Growth. These are only a few of the courses available, others are Exploring Personal Markets, Business Continuity, Employee Benefits, Disability Income, Fundamentals of Financial Services, Advanced Business Planning. Again, anyone interested in any of these courses contact Jean. Effective January 1, 1997 in order to apply for the LUTCF designation an agent must take an ethics course called Piecing Together The Ethical Puzzle. This is an 8 hour course that will be offered in conjunction with the Personal Estate and Retirement Planning course. We recommend anyone who wishes to apply for their LUTCF in the next 2-3 years to also take this course. Insurance agents are required by the state of Kansas to participate in continuing education, 12 hours every 2 years for each license we hold. The LUTC courses will help fulfill that requirement as they are all 12 hour courses. Many tax and estate planning laws, products, and state regulations change quite often over the years, the study manuals are constantly being updated so that we are studying current material.
