C-8 FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2003 COURIER NEWS HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS Em Bernards mm trail nW9 Bridgewater-Raritan battled to 3-2 victory over Bergen Tech in the Group IV semifinals before falling to Cherry Hill East in the final. After losing the first set in the quarterfinal match, Bridgewater-Raritan coach Marti Hehvig knew second singles player Patricia Przystasz had what it takes to mount a comeback. "Patricia really turned it around," Helwig said. "If she would go to three sets, I knew she would cruise." Przystasz defeated Irina Kosman 0-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-0. Governor Livingston made a miraculous run to the North Jersey, Section 2, Group II title, but the momentum couldnot carry the Highlanders past Pascack Valley in a 4-1 semifinal loss.

We hope her son and somebody who shares my blood has a good game, but, but I'm sorry. Voorhees 24-12. mmm North Plainfield (3-2) All I ever wanted was to paint light on the walls of life. I'm sorry, just being philosophical here. Sometimes I get into a melancholy mood and I reflect on things too much.

Whippany Park (0-5) at Pingry (4-2), 1 I fully appreciate that high school football teams use my limited space in this family newspaper for motivation. New Providence 35-0. Watch out Cardinals. Watch out at beautiful Unterman Field, where the AstroTurf is sparkling like the rest of that beautiful facility. My advice is to get an early lead, then get on 1-78. West and celebrate.

Plainfield 12-6. Warren Hills (5-1) at Bridgewater-Rar. (4-1), 7 The Panthers are banged up. The injury bug has hit a bit earlier this year. Is it a concern? Of course, it's a concern.

I have a lot of concerns myself like will the Windstar make it past the JutlandNorton exit and over Schooley Mountain on I-78 West? Will the lawyers keepcalling? Will artery No. 1 close up? Will there be a traffic jam near the Warren GlenStewartsville exit? You know, the usual worries. Bridgewater-Raritan 21-16. Roselle (0-5) at Ridge (5-0), 7 Well, well, well. Mary. FIELD HOCKEY Capuano's goal propels get on me about picking against the Tigers. No problem, butl haven'tseen any emails from any Tiger "fans." Here's the e-mail address: No calls at home, though. North Brunswick 24-20. Hackettstown(4-2) at Delaware Valley (5-0), 7 i The rain was steady last week as the Dogs dismantled Voorhees.

Middlesex 22-6. South Hunterdon (3-3) at North Warren (1-5), 7 South Hunterdon is just a few points away from being 6-0. But they're not; they're 3-3. Yours truly forgot to pick them to win last week and looked foolish when the Iggles nipped Hackettstown. South looks likea playoff team.

South Hunterdon 20-8. fense shows up," North Hunterdon coach Dennis Haughey said. "We've really been hot and cold." Haughey was referring to last week's loss, which featured an outstanding effort by the North Hunterdon defense but a spotty one by its offense. Central's defense is led by senior linebacker Owen Brenner, WtOWl, 24-26 HI friends from Roselle. Roselle is not having a good year.

But enough for football. What about Abraham Clark, the man whom Roselle High School is named after? Mr. Clark, who called Elizabeth his hometown, lived between 1726 and 1794. He was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. I'm sure if Mr.

Clark was alive today he would have also signed the petition for Ridge to join the Skyland Conference. Ridge 38-0. Newark Central (3-3) at Bound Brook (2-4), 7 So, Cruasder Way has been dug up. New pavement is being put down down alongside scenic Lamont Field. The new road surface will be nice and smooth, something the Crusader season hasn't been.

The boys at the office have gotten into my kitchen about this and I've tried my best to resist, but I can't. Newark Central 18-6. North Brunswick (3-3) at South Plainfield John Haley over at the Home News Tribune was approached by a South Plainfield "fan" after last week'sgame with Colonia, a game the Tigers won 7-0. John tells me the cat told him he had e-mailed me but hadn't gotten a response. He told John he wanted to and a touchdown.

But the Lions' offense struggled in a 14-7 loss to Warren Hills last Friday. Waisempacher completed just 8-of-28 passes, and North had just 28 net rushing yards as Warren Hills scored the game-winning touchdown with 17 seconds remaining. "It really depends on what of October Super senior fullback Doug Day, who are out for the year. Central did get back running back Jason Reid last week after the senior missed three games with a leg injury. He returned to run for 72 yards on 21 carries and his first touchdown of the year in a 24-14 win against Watchung Hills.

His return has eased the load of sophomore Ryan Keeley (78-301, three touchdowns). Senior quarterback Jesse Emb-ley has been throwing to junior Ryan Lachner, who has caught 13 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns. Embley, who's thrown for 683 yards and six touchdowns, is hoping senior solit end Steve Struble is ready to Say. He's also been out with a leg jury. The North Hunterdon front led by Jamie Marsh, Mike McKe ever, Dan Leask, Devin Dam, Scott Nodes and Bobby Pierce has been strong.

Against Watchung Hills, Marsh led the Lions with 17 hits, a fumble recovery, half a sack and a tackle for a loss behind the line of scrimmage.
