Deaths and Funerals BQTT Funeral services WHITNEY Mrs. Goldie for Mrs. Fred (Clementine) Lee Whitney, 86, lifetime Bott, 77, who died Friday at resident of the.Fullertdn area, 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in the Columbus Cemetery. Pastor Paul Rowoldt will officiate.

Visitation today at Gass- Haney Funeral Home; 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at church. MEXUGER-Mrs. Albert (Pauline) Melliger, 78, of 1626 Street, died Saturday in Behlen Community Hospital after an illness of five weeks Funeral rites will be xn- ducted by Rev. Charles Potocki, 9:30 a.m.

Tuesday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church with burial in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Rosary service is set for 7:30 p.m. today at McKown Funeral Chapel where the body lies in state.

Lifetime resident of this community, Mrs. Melliger was born Feb. 2,1898 to Otto and Frances (Chvatal) Merz attended Columbus schools and taught in rural schools. She married Albert H. Mclliger at St.

Bonaventure Church, Oct. 15,1919, and they farmed in the Columbus vicinity until moving to town in 1971. She was a member of St. lionaventure Church, Christian Mothers, Eagles Auxiliary, Kountry Kousins and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Surviving are her husband; five children, Mrs.

Doris demons of Littleton, Milton of Cheynne, Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Nosal, Carroll and Warren of Columbus; one brother, Otto Merz of Columbus; four sisters, Mrs. R.L. (Amelia) Miller of Bremerton, Mrs. Thomas L.

(Lucille) McCarthy of Phoenix, Mrs. A.E. (Rose) Schilling of Waterloo, Mrs. A.E. (Ann) Gutzmer of Columbus; 15 grandchildren and three Ijreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Mae; Bee Ma! who died in 1909. She was then adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schmid and spent her childhood in the Shelby urea, whore she at- tended rural school, later she lived In Arkansas, Virginia Tennesse, returning to Polk County in 1968. One sister, Mrs.

Mrs. Whitney, was born Feb. Chicago, receiving an electronics technician diploma. He specialized in digital in- dustrial electronics. Mrs.

Bott was born Oct. 21, 19,1890 in Nance Qounty, the 1898 in Colfax County, daughter of Albert and Carey she daughter of Thomas and Anna (Divis) Valish. Educated in the Schuyler schools, she married Fred Bott in Columbus, July 25, 1922, and they farmed near Richland. After her husband's death, Jan. 1, 1960, she moved to Columbus where she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Edith Drawba'ugh and Mrs: Joseph Swanda, both of Omaha; several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to the heart fund or cancer fund. SCHMID Tuesday 9 a.m. services are scheduled at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shelby, for Miss Bertha Schniid; 73, who died Friday in Annie Jeffrey Hospital, Osccola.

The Rev. Anthony Trausch will officiate with burial in the Shelby Cemetery. Rosary service is 8 today at Kcpner-Roberts Funeral, Home, Osceola, where the' body lies in state. She was born Aug. 12, 1902 in Arkansas to Mr.

and Mrs. (Bowzer) Trotter, married Frank R. Whitney in Kansas, Dec. 25, 1927. She was a Methodist, Rebekah, Royal Neighbor and charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1960, and two brothers. Surviving is one sister, Van Tries Trotter of t'ullerton. CUNNINGHAM Funeral rites were held at 2 p.m. today at United Methodist Church, Albion, for Mrs. Anna Cun- ningham, 81, who died Friday in the Fullerton Hospital.

The Rev. Lester Anderson of- ficiated and burial was in the Akron Cemetery. She was born Aug. 5,1893 at Akron, daughter of Frank and Josephine (Bqrdeman) Lawrence and married George Cunningham at Albion, April 16,1909. Most of her life was spent in Boone County.

Surviving are her husband; four sons, Lawrence of Cedar Rapids, Duane. of Albion, Kenneth of Hastings, Ted of Omaha; brother, Horace of Albion; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and six sisters are deceased. son, Joseph; parents; brothers, August, Phillip and Ernst Merz; sisters, Mrs. Seneca (Kate) Hubbell, Mrs.

Pat (Frances) Brown, Mrs. Fred (Carolyn) Cady and Mrs. Julius (Elisc) Gavcr. The family suggests memorials to Scotus Educational Fund. MUHLE Arrangements arc pending at Rozanek Funeral Home in Leigh for Otto F.

Muhle, 81, retired heigh farmer, who died Sunday afternoon at a Lincoln hospital. He is survived by his wife; Ethel; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Engelbart and Mrs. Erna Engelbart of Leigh; and VAN HOOSEN Laura Van Hoosen, 74, Osceola, died this morning at the hospital in Osceola. Services will be 11 a.m.

Wednesday at Kepner- Roberts Funeral Home, Osceola, with Rev. Truman Graduation at Wayne State Commencement exercises are today for 181 students at Wayne State College, with baccalaureate degrees, going to 173 and masters degrees to 8 students at 7:30 p.m.' There will be 11 students receiving degrees sum'ma cum laude, with grade point averages of 3.8 or better on a 4.0 scale. Son of William H. and Anna (Sissle) Moore, he was born Jan, 3, 1893 at Columbus where he lived until 1910. Residing in Genoa from 1910- II, he was a 50-year Mason of Mount Nebo Ixidge and a member of Sylvia Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Since 1941 he lived in California where he was af- 'iliated the carpenters 'union at Santa 'Rosa and the Baptist Church. first marriage was to Mabel Saniuelson, Feb.

14, 1916 in Columbus, and she died May 16,1967. In 1971 at Santa Rosa he married Mabel Horn, who survives. tAlso surviving 'are a burial in Osceola Cemetery. Visitation hours will be -1-9 pjn. Tuesday and 9-11 a.m.

Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Van Hoosen was born April 29,1901 to Emmett and Mary Alice (Ransom) Beebe in Polk County. She was a' Methodist. July 22,1925 in Columbus she married Logan Van Hoosen, who died in 1967.

Six brothers also preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons, Stanley of Osceola, Logan of Lincoln; two brothers, William Beebe of Rising City, Rarhond of Osceola; six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. business. Flyer concerns new credit act LINCOLN The Nebraska Commission on the Status of Women announces the publication of a question and answer flyer on the provisions of the new Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECO.A) entitled "Credit Rights lor Women." The flyer, in response to numerous questions received at the office about the new credit law, provides an.outline of the law and its effect on Nebraska women. Also included in the flyer is a list of the en- forcement agencies and their addresses. The Equal Credit Opportunity Act provides that lending institutions must, Sports complex fund drive begins ALBION The Albion Sports Complex fund drive is scheduled today through Wednesday. Gary Kruse chairman of the drive, said the donation goal is $29,875. Total cost of the complex is $119.500 with half to be paid by federal funding, one quarter by the state and quarter locally.

Mrs. Ostrander died unexpectedly Friday at Butler County Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Octavia community, she was born Nov. 17,1905, at Octavia, the daughter of Christopher and Grace (Black) Anderson. She was married-to William Ostrander.

Mrs. Ostrander was active in the Octavia Community Church and Octavia extension club. Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. John (Eunice) Smith of Schuyler; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her parents, daughters and one sister preceded her in death.

Alvina Lindeman of Columbus and Mathilda Loseke of 1 Osceola, 'She was death 1 by one daughter, Lois Mae; parents; three, brothers, Edward, Oscar and Adolf Useke; two sisters; Adolf Marty and Mrs. Her- man Deyke. JENSON Mrs. Otto Jensoh (nee Alva Johnson) died Sunday at a St. Edward nursing home.
