Dixon, Illinois, Wednesday. November 19. 1947 SOCIETY NEWS ClnK Tenor. Pianist as Annual Guest Night Concert Artists Dixon Woman's ciab members presented Ralph Nielsen, tenor, and Sidney Stafford, bis accompanist, in a guest night concert at the Loveland House last night. Mrs.

Wilaur Fulfs gave a short welcoming greeting to the members, their families and guests and introduced Mrs. R. F. Krahier, music chairman of the club, who presented the artists ot the Study iuS Music Mr. Nielsen is studying voice at present Chicago at the American Conservatory of Music and will receive his master's degree in music next year.

He 15 not unknown in Dixon, having spent some time here when his father, the Rev. G. D. Nielsen, was pastor of the Grace Evangelical United Brethren church. Mr.

Stafford has been studying at the Chicago Music college and will receive his master's degree in music next year. Before the war he studied at the Sherwood Music school in Chicago. A picnic dinner was served at noon and games were played during the afternoon. Mrs. W. B. Richardson presented Mrs.

Ware with a gift from the BEND SCHOOL Bend school children and parents have a scramble supper and program next Monday evening, Nov. 24. Mrs. Catherine Siemens, the teacher has arranged a program of songs, plays and recitations to be given by the pupds. Friends of the school are im-ited.

18 in Brewton. Ala. The couple are now living in Bagdad. Fla. The bride groom has been in the Navy since his graduation from Dixon high school in 1940 and recently received his permanent rating.

He has been transferred to the Umted States Naval Air station at Corpus Christi, and the couple will move there in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Denison are planning to spend the Christmas holidays in Dixon with his mother and family. She told how Miss Lucia Dement, an artist and former resident of Dixon, hoped for tne establishment of an art gallery in Dixon and that It was because of her influence and inspiration that the project was originated and consummated.

Miss Armington also thanked the trustees of the Loveland House for their interest and cooperation. 1'rUe Winners The winners of the purchase prize and the six honorable mentions wert then announced. Mrs. Eunice Schuler was given the purchase prize, a gift of the Phid-an Art club, for her water color, "Our Island." Blue ribbons were given for the honorable mention pictures which included: "After the Hurricane," an oil by Agnes Ferguson. "A Bit of Homesnun," an oil by Calla Grieg.

"Before the Hurricane." a water color by Magda Clatter. "Up Mam Street," a painting by the late Halger Jensen which was exhibited by his wife. Dusk." a water color by Eugenie Sharp. "Driftwood." a water color by Eumce Schuler. Miss Armington then introduced Bendon A.

Kneale, head of the art department of Frances Shinier college, Mr. Carroll. Mr. Kneale said that Dixon should be very proud to know that there is a movement in the city of the furtherance of cultural activity and very grateful for the use of such a building as the Loveland House. Expansion Hopes He saw hopes for expansion and said he would like to see more pictures on the walls.
