and Mrs. M. Cole of Minneapolis were Sunday visitors with relatives in Postville Mr. and Mrs. Francis Buren of Milwaukee, Wisconsin spent the weekend at the Otto Appel home.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stirn attended a birthday party in honor of her father, John Hancock, at Waterville Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Lange, James and Susan of Decorah, were callers at the G. A. Brooks home last Sunday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. C. W. DeGarmo and daughter spent the weekend in Early visiting at the home of his parents, Mr.

Ida Dietsch left Monday evening for Shushan, New York, where she will spend four weeks visiting her sister, Mrs. Emma Albert. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Scully, Pat, Jim and Susan, were weekend visitors in the homes of Mr.

Jerry Spencer, who celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burling and boys and Mrs. Myrtle Aitchison returned last Wednesday from a trip to the Black Hills and points in Eastern Colorado.

Rev. Arthur Rumbaugh, superintendent of Bethany Home of the Aged, Dubuque, will be the guest pastor at the Community Presbyterian Church for services Sunday at 10:00 a. m. Mr. and Mrs.

James Foran and Amelia Meyer attended the funeral -of Charles Heaford at Rockwell on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Burr Cook and family. Mrs.

Gunda Martindale and A. L. Peterson were Sunday dinner guests in the Perry Cook home at Waterloo. Mr. and Mrs.

convention. They also spent some time visiting Rev. F. R. Ludwig.

Mrs. Boies Capper went to La I Crosse. Wisconsin for several days visit with her brother-in-law and 1 sister. Mr. and Mrs.

California spent last i week visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Erickson. Mrs. Speece is the former Irene Erickson.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gordanier and Beth, Mrs. Sarah Gordanier, Opal Gordanier and Mrs. Dale Meyer are in Iowa City today where they will attend the University of Iowa summer graduation exercises in which Vi Gordanier will receive her degree as a registered nurse.

Following the exercises, Opal and Vi will leave for a trip to Denver, Colorado for a visit in the home of Miss Peggy Carroll. Monday after a visit in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. F.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lindsay will leave Thursday morning tor a three weeks trip to Lake Louise, Colgary, Edmonton and their former home in Alberta, Canada. Joseph B. Steele was elected vice president of the Holy Name Societies of the Archdiocese of Dubuque for a two year term at the annual meeting of this organization held last Sunday at Cedar Rapids.

Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hart left last Wednesday for a trip to the Black Hills and other points of historical interest along the way. They plan on returning about August 15. Mrs.

Charles Schave returned from Monmouth, Illinois Thursday, being called there by the death of her nephew, Charles Amos Stearns, whose funeral was Wednesday, August 5. Mrs. Amelia Willman and granddaughters, Kathy and Renee Schmidt, went to Chicago last Wednesday to spend a week in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Medberry and visit other relatives there.

Mr. and Mrs. Byron Kroshus, Beverly and Gary, were last Monday visitors at the Donald Stirn home and also called at the hospital to visit Wilmer Nordin. Beverly stayed for a weeks visit with her aunt, Mrs. Stirn.

Mr. and Mrs. Vencilof Holly returned Monday evening after spending the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harley Owen and family.

They also visited the early boyhood home of Lincoln at New Salem, Illinois on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Schroeder and Mr. and Mrs.

Ralph LaVelle spent Saturday and Sunday in Milwaukee. They saw the Braves- Pittsburg double header Sunday afternoon and attended church services at Lake Park Church where Rev. F. R. Ludwig is pastor.

Mrs. Alfred Kleinow of Prosser, Washington is visiting at the home of her mother, Mrs. A. B. Coates.

She will remain in Iowa until after Mrs. Coates has undergone surgery at the University Hospitals in Iowa City. Other visitors at the Coates' home this weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Willis F.

O. Beucher and Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Miller spent the weekend at New Salem, Illinois visiting the historical sites of the Lincoln era.

They drove on to Springfield where they stopped to visit in the home of L. D. Walters. Mrs. G.

A. Brooks was informed of the death of an old friend. Henry Hill, which occurred about two weeks ago at Buhl. Minnesota, where he was on a visit. His death was sudden.

He was buried at the Odd Fellows home at Northfield, Minnesota. His wife passed away a few months ago. He has two daughters, Hattie Herrmann of Clinton and Ida of California. A family reunion was held Sunday at the home of Mrs. Bertha Schroeder with the entire family home for the occasion.

GK Ed. Green. (Continued from Paso One) R. R. Kunkel will serve as English and speech teacher in the high school.

Mr. Kunkel is receiving a Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin this summer. His graduate and undergraduate majors were both speech with minors in English. His undergraduate work was taken at Illinois college at Jacksonville, Illinois. Jerry Franklin of Burlington will serve as head football coach this year.

Mr. Franklin is a graduate of Coe college and last year served as coach at Calmar. Donald Dominy, a recent graduate of the University of Iowa from Estherville, will teach social studies classes in the high school. The school vocal teacher this year will be Miss Joyce Dougherty of Waukee. She graduated last "spring from Drake University with a major in vocal music.

Rural Teachers. Teachers will be changed in four of the rural schools to be open in the district this year. Mrs. Ken- neth Ellis will teach the school in the north part of Bloomfield township. Mrs.

Ellis taught the West I Grove school last year. Mrs. Paul Kittlesby will teach the West Grove school this year. Mrs. Roy Moon, who has been teaching in Des Moines, will teach the Baily school and Mrs.

Alice Holley will teach the Pixler school. Mrs. Holley taught the Marion township last year. Mrs. Charlotte Walby will again teach the Highland school and Mrs.

Sarah Nelson will return to the Brick school in Bloomfield township. The McKinley school will be taught by Mrs. Velma Nelson again this year and the Springfield school by Mrs. Harvey Christofferson. Returning Teach'trs.

Teachers returning in the town school this year will include Miss Mary Kay Zuber. She will be teaching the kindergarten classes for the second year. Other teachers returning for their second year of work in the Postville school will include Miss Audrey Hammond (first grade). Miss LaVonne Brudos (sixth grade), Miss Elizabeth English (fifth grade). Clarence Martens (high school principal), and J.

Conrad Kohlmann (high school mathematics and science). Miss Anita Steflens, third grade teacher, will be serving her fifth year on the Postville faculty. This will be the tenth year in the Postville faculty for Miss Florence Hoth, 'junior high principal. Serving her Sixth year as instructor in vocational home economics will be Miss Irma Davison. William Stewart is returning for his fourth year as vocational agriculture instructor.

This will be the third year that Eldean Drewes has served as instrumental music teacher. Mrs. Irene Rogers will again teach English classes and serve as school librarian. This is her 12th year on the faculty. Donald Siefken will return for a third year as head basketball coach and instructor in drivers' training and biology.

The superintendent again this year will be K. T. Cook. This is Mr. Cook's eighth year with the Postville school.
