Basketball Webber sentenced DETROIT Philadelphia 76ers player and former Michigan star Chris Webber was ordered to pay a $100,000 fine Wednesday, nearly two years after he pleaded guilty to a federal criminal contempt charge in the University of Michigan booster scandal. U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds fined Webber the maximum allowed after she ruled that Webber's conviction should be treated as a misdemeanor rather than a felony, the U.S. Attorney's office said.

The judge also noted Webber's completion of 330 hours of community service and out-of-pocket expenses action has slowed and there are some perch in the 10-inch class coming from isie Day. West Spinner rigs and rainbow min nows are fooling walleyes in 20 to 24 feet of water on most flats. Slip bobbers and leeches are working better after dark on the mud. Muskie anglers started seeing more Ash this week, but they still arent biting that well. An occasional Ash has been taken on topwater baits off the shallow weedlines.

LAKE MINNETONKA Walleye action has picked up with minnows on the weedlines of Brown's Bay and Wayzata Bay. Look for bass on the deep weeds with plastics. The inside weedlines are producing sunfish in six to eight feet of water. Muskie activity has picked up with mid-surface baits in Crystal Bay and Carmen's Bay. Northern pike started hitting sucker minnows on top of the weed flats.

LAKE OF THE WOODS Downrigging with crankbaits has pro- vided limits of walleyes in 34 to 36 feet of water on the south shore. Better areas this week have been Long Point, Garden Island, and Stony Point The rock areas of Zippel Bay reports better numbers of big walleyes being taken this week on crawlers. At the Northwest Angle, walleyes are biting on the points in 14 to 20 feet of water. A jig and minnow started working best in recent days. Don't look past tne muskie and smallmouth bass action in this area as well.

There's been some big crappies and eating-sized walleyes caught near the Islands in 14 to 16 feet of water. LAKE OSAKIS The north end started producing more sunfish this week. Areas such as Coonhaven Bay, where Fairhaven Resort used to be.and in front of Holiday Resort have been best in 20 feet of water. You have to move until you locate a pod of bigger Ash and small leeches or worms have worked best. A few small pike can be had in the weeds and an occasional walleye Is caught off the main lake bars.

LAKE WACONIA Topwater baits that make some noise have been the ticket for muskies near the swimming beach and northeast corner of the lake in nine feet of water. Largemouth bass are hitting spinnerbaits and plastics near the docks, shallows, and deep weedlines. The trend for bigger Ash has been to Ash early and late in the day. Surmsh are an easy catch on the 10-foot weed edges and a few crappies have started showing up on top of the thick weed patches. LAKEWINNIBIGOSHISH A few more walleyes started coming from shallow water.

Work the Duck Pass and Raven's Point in 10 to 12 feet of water with Shad Raps or a jig-and-minnow combination. Leeches and crawlers have been more productive In 15 to 20 feet of water on the main lake bars. Northern pike are hitting a variety of artificial and live bait presentations on the established weed edges. Stoney Point and Raven's Point are giving up perch on a jig and minnow In eight to 12 feet of water. MANKATO The Minnesota River continues to provide numbers of catfish, while the dam area of the Blue Earth River Is a safe bet for walleyes.

Hit Baker's Bay on Lake Washington for sunfish and crappies In eight to 12 feet of water. There's also walleyes hitting off Second Point and Grassy Island on Lake Washington. Crankbaits are working best In 16 feet of water. German Lake started giving up walleyes in 20 to 25 feet and you will find crappies suspended over 30 to 35 feet, too. McGregor There's an early morning and evening walleye bite taking place on Round Lake in 12 to 15 feet of water.

Lake Mlnnewa-wa and Aitkin Lake are producing surmsh In 12 feet of water during the morning hours. Bellhom Bay on Big Sandy Lake is holding good-sized crappies in 10 to 12 feet of water. Northern pike and largemouth bass are hitting along the weed-lines of most lakes, PARK RAPIDS Long Lake, Fish Hook Lake, and Sand Lake are worth checking for walleyes In 25 to 30 feet of water. The Crow Wing Chain remains the best option for pan-fish In 12 to 14 feet of water. Look for the bigger crappies and sunfish to be suspended.

A few northern pike can be had on the weed edges of Big Mantrap lake with sucker minnows. RAINY LAKE There's been some shallow water crapple action In the Rat Root River area of Black Bay. The Relnier Bridge and Community Reef areas of Sand Bay started providing steady walleye action with minnows. Work the east end of Blueberry Reef and Fox Island in 40 feet of water for walleyes with minnows as of more than $78,000. In September 2003, Edmunds ordered Webber to perform 300 hours of the community service over the next two summers as a condition of his bond, saying she would decide whether to treat the crime as a felony or a misdemeanor in two years.

Crankbaits or minnows are working best SOUTHWEST METRO Largemouth bass have provided the best bite in this area.

Look to Lake Zumbra and Lake Bavaria with white spinnerbaits along the 13-foot weedlines. There's been some good-sized sunfish coming off Lake Parley in nine feet of water. The bigger Ash have been tight to the bottom. Sucker minnows continue to produce catfish on the Minnesota River, but the majority of Ash caught this week have been smaller than a week ago. Fishing State report By Outdoor News ALEXANDRIA Bass are hitting spinnerbaits and crankbaits on the deep weedlines midday. Lowlight periods of the day are best spent in shallow water with plastics or topwater baits. The cooler weather has improved walleye activity on lakes such as Ida, Mlltona, and Carlos.

Crawlers work best, but minnows were turning more fish this week in 22 to 28 feet of water. Look for crappies relating to green weeds and biting best during low-light periods, while bluegills are hitting ice jigs and waxworms in 12 to 15 feet of water. Lake Le Homme Dieu, Lake Ida, Lake Darling, and Lake Geneva are safe bets for panfish again this week. ANNANDALE A jig and fathead minnow Is now providing the best walleye action on lakes such as Clearwater and Cedar In 15 to 20 feet of water. There's plenty of surmsh in 10 feet of water on Lake Augusta, Lake John, Lake Sylvia, and Clearwater.

Bass and northern pike are hitting well along the deep and shallow weedlines of most lakes. A few more crappies have been pulled off the green weeds of Clearwater, Pleasant Lake, and Sugar Lake. Sugar Lake also continues to kick out quite a few muskles. BATTLE LAKE Sunnsh action has been good throughout the area in 10 to 12 feet of water. Clltherall Lake, Battle Lake, Dead Lake, Star Lake, and Blanche Lake all have produced fish.

Fall patterns are taking shape for walleye anglers on Otter Tail Lake with minnows or Shad Raps producing fish in 10 to 14 feet of water. Northern pike are hitting minnows along the mid-depth weedlines of Battle Lake and Otter Tall Lake. A few muskies continue to come off Battle Lake, too. BRAINERDNISSWA Walleye Ashing continues to Improve In 16 to 28 feet of water with redtail minnows. Gull Lake, North Long Lake, and Whitefish Lake all have provided better action this week than last The area bass bite remains strong In the weeds with spinnerbaits.

Sucker minnows also will produce northern pike along the weed eage.s and pantin can be had with small leeches along the 10- to 12-foot weedlines on most lakes. CASS LAKE Walleyes are biting early and late In the day in 20 to 25 feet of water and In 35 to 45 feet during midday on Cass Lake. Jigs tipped with shiner minnows or redtails have been best. Muskie action has Improved with small bucktalls and spinnerbaits. Bass are hitting a variety of presentations on Grace Lake and Lake Thirteen.

CROSS LAKE Lindy Rigs and spinner rigs tipped with redtails or leeches have produced walleyes in 30 to 34 feet of water during the day. A few also have been caught with deep-running crankbaits during the evening hours. Northern pike, sunfish, and bass continue to be found along the outer weed edges of most lakes. Look for crappies to be suspended about 12 feet down off the points and submerged Islands. DETROIT LAKES Jigs tipped with minnows are turning the majority of walleyes off the sharp breaks of Big Cormorant Lake, Lake Lida, Pelican Lake, Many Point Lake, Toad Lake, and Elbow Lake.

The bite often peaks early and late in the day. Bass Ashing continues to be Impressive In the area with plastics producing bigger fish. Look for crappies and bluegills In or around deep cabbage beds. Muskie reports have Improved on Pelican Lake and Detroit Lake. EAST-CENTRAL Crappies and sunfish have been keeping anglers busy on Green Lake in 17 feet of water.

Northern pike are hitting minnows or spoons on most lakes, but walleyes are still tough to find. Largemouth bass are hitting topwater and plastics on Blue Lake early and late in the day. GRAND RAPIDS Bucktails have provided consistent muskie action on Moose Lake, Little Moose Lake, and North Star Lake. The deep weedlines in Poole's Bay on Lake Pokegama started kicking out crappies. The area bass bite has been excellent on lakes such as Balsam, Spider, and Island.

Pokegama and Trout Lake have been producing mainly good-sized smallmouth bass. HACKENSACK Spinner rigs and crawlers started producing walleyes on Stoney Lake In 12 to 20 feet of water. There's some evening walleye action off Woman Lake with shiner minnows and redtails in 18 to 20 feet of water. An occasional flurry of crapple activity takes place on Birch Lake in 10 to 12 feet with small minnows, while bass anglers are finding active Ash on most lakes. Spinnerbaits seem to be producing the majority of bigger bass this week.

LAKE MILLELACS East The tops and edges of the mud flats continue to provide the best day bite for walleyes. Spinner rigs and crankbaits are producing the majority of Ash. Slip bobbers and leeches are the way to go after sunset in 22 to 30 feet of water. There's also a few Ash started to hit shallow-running crankbaits on the shallow rocks after dark. Topwater baits remain the best option for muskles on top of the weedflats.
