a rao- Hobbies, exhibited in the school library, covered a wide range of out-of-school subjects, ranging from four-leaf clover collections, to model airplanes and trains. In the gymnasium were sive exhibits from the English, Social Studies, drafting, homemaking, and woodshop classes as well as Nathan Shaw's art department. The mathematics classes exhibited graphs, charts, geometric solids, work papers, in rooms '202 and 205. In the school's new homemaking room, seventh and eighth grade girls exhibited clothing add cookies they had made in their classes and served the cookies to the visitors. Ninth grade girls modeled their clothing, consistently mostly of skirts and blouses, all beautifully made.

-This was in the" "school gym. STAMP COLLECTIONS Among hobbles displayed were a number of stamp collections, some quite extensive. There were also playing cards, post cards, paper napkin, trinket, and doll collections. The doll collections were foreign dolls and story book and yarn dolls. There were also model radios, and.

tanks and stuffed ani-J mals. There was a replica oi one of the first trains and an early day automobile in wood. A few girls exhibited fancy work. The Noonday Crafts class displayed batik work, wood burning, alumlnus trays, and painted wall plaques in wood. An outstanding feature was a replica, built to scale and laid out on Jsanddrawn map of the eity, also done to scale, of Benton Harbor's business district.

This was complete with the city's hotels, banks, business places, but station, post office, and the Four and Five Corners. HUGE MURAL Another outstanding feature was a huge mural of the history of Benton Harbor from the time of the Indian to the present day's Blossom Festival. Among scenes dating back to the early part of the 19th century were early trains and horsecars, H. C. Morton and other pioneers, Yore opera house fire, old Tom Benton fire engine, early day ship canal, immigrants coming to join the House of David at its beginning, fruit pickers, and many other scenes.

This mural was a replica of the Olsen Ebann mural of the city's historical background. Another mural in oil showed Benton Harbor's fruit industry from earliest times to the present and attracted much interest. This dated back to 1887. Familiar scenes were the ship canal, Bell opera house first fruit, market on Sixth street, present fruit market, Blossomland bridge, and the Blossom parade endingwith the Queen's float and part of the crowd. 1 Made by the art department un COLOMA, May 24 A large crowd of interested friends and parents of the graduating class of Coloma high school attended the Class Day and honors convocation in the auditorium last night when, in addition to the traditional class day features, the program Included the distributing of honor awards and numerous certificates of merit and achievement.

Recipient of the annual Sportsmanship Award, presented by Ted E. Blahnik for the American Legion, was Herman Heuermann, Coloma's candidate for the Berrien County Sportswriters' Award. Miss Patricia MeCrery carried off high scholarship honors of this year's class, the only one who earned the high academic rating required for this honors award. She received a certificate of honor and xey in recognition of her scholar' ship attainments. OTHER HONORS Others earning Certificates of Merit in scholastic and extra-cur' ricular activities at Coloma school were also announced by Principal S.

L. Herman Heuermann, winner of the Sportsmanship Award, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Heuer mann and has attended Coloma school from kindergarten through high school. His coach, S. L.

McDaniels, has rated Heuermann one of the best basketball guards ever to play With the Coloma high teams. He also competed in both baseball and football and earned his varsity letters in each. Herman's name now follows theirs upon the trophy. Honor Student Patricia MeCrery is the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs, John MeCrery, residents of Little Paw Paw lake. Patricia came to Coloma high school in 1948 from the Washington school where she completed her elementary school education. The high scholarship attainments which won her the award have been maintained throughout the entire four years of high school. She won recognition last night lso in the fields of business and home eco' nomics where she has maintained high standards i Patricia has also been a class of ft cer, was in the cast of the senior play, was co-editor of the yearbook and for two years a member of the high school chorus. She expresses an interest in office work following her graduation.
