Teen-agers Frances Page and Lucy Stewart, known as "Fran and Lucy," entertained at a silver tea given at the home of Mrs. Stanley Hodes to benefit the West Volusia Nursing Associatioh. V. Galloway, and Mrs. Hodes. Presiding at the tea table were Mrs. Kathryn Bridge, Mrs.

Myron Baker, Mrs. Elmer Mertz and Mrs. Samuel Grierson. Mr. and Mrs.

Frank were honored on two occasions Sunday in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. A dinner party was held at Morris' Restaurant at noon and that night their daughters, Mrs. W. K. Wallace and Mrs.

William Caldwell, invited friends and neighbors to greet the honored couple at the home of Mrs. Wallace. Mrs. Hora is the former Gertrude Prell of New York City and her husband is a native of Vienna, Austria. They were married in New York City on May 27, 1916, and have been residents of DeLand for 16 years.

Their children are Richard Hora, Mogadore, Ohio; Mrs. Caldwell if Plainfield, N. and Mrs. Wallace. There are seven grandchildren.

Samsula Lines Birthday Celebrant Honored On 13th Year By ALICE BENEDICT SAMSULA Marcy breath celebrated her 13th birthday with a party and supper at the SNPJ Lodge Hall. Ariel Hershner. Mrs. J. H. DeWitt was surprised with a birthday' Adult Class To Hold Graduation By NATALIE JENKINS Phone 668-6170 DELTONA Graduation excercises for the Deltona Adult Education Classes will be held Saturday at the Deltona Community Center.

The program will begin at 3 p.m. Dr. Roy Be ngren, president of Daytona Beach Junior College will deliver the commencement address. The Deltona Choral Group, under the direction of Mrs. Mildred Clark, will be featured in three Deltonotes musical selections.

A reception will follow the program. THE DELTONA Adult Education program is an extension of the DBCJ Adult Education Division. Twenty- -two different classes were offered this school year and over 500 Deltona residents participated in the program at the Little Red Schoolhouse. Those who participated in the classes are asked to drop by the Little Red Schoolhouse Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Derby Winners Announced By DOROTHY MURTON EDGEWATER Ronald Granger won the Pinewood Derby, sponsored by Edgewater Cub Scout Pack 425 recently. Other winners were Knute Hildreth, second, and Scott Melanson, third. A special awards ceremony was conducted by the troop assisted by members of Troop 406. One year pins were presented to Charles Ganta, Anthony Svoboda, Robert Cook, Joseph Lopez, Caroll Seng and Scott Melanson. WEAR Poppy Poster Winners American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17 of New Smyrna Beach announced these winners of a poppy poster contest.

Poppy chairman Mrs. Victoria Broch third, Mike Sellers, first, and Donald Hendricks second. Auxiliary collected $350 on its annual poppy day last week and extends its thanks to awarded prizes to Teresa Everett, public of New Smyrna Beach. Yacht Club Party Home Week' DAYTONA BEACH The party at the Halifax River Yacht Club on Saturday evening was "old home week" for several native Daytonans. Jim Loomis, a native of this city, and his wife Jane were returning to their home in Jacksonville from a Southern trip on their boat, and stopped off to attend the party, with Frank Pyle.

Other former Daytonans, Mis and her mother Mrs. Ruth Burkley of Columbia, S. C. attended the party with Ellen's husband, Joe, and their hostess, Vivian Richards. THE SOUTH CAROLINIANS spend their vacation each year here and planned to return home Sunday.

The party was a covered-dish supper headed by a committee composed of Elsie Cahill, Peg Vaughan and Betty Dolan. The members as usual went all out preparing succulent dishes of chicken, barbecue, ham, etc. and calorie filled desserts to top the meal. School graduations and vacations were topics of conversation at almost all of the tables. John and Beth Lutz were planning their trip to Chicago to attend the graduation of their granddaughter from high school.

ABBEY AND Tony Walsh had as their guests, their son, Tony Jr. and their houseguest, Jannik Marvits of Copenhagen, Denmark. Both boys will be graduated from high school this week. Jannik is an exchange student who has been residing with the Walshes while attending school.

Betty Larson and her son Bruce, who had just arrived from Tulane for summer vacation, were seated with Charles and Lee Cliffird, Pat Knapp and her mother, Neill Burns. Betty had just returned from Norfolk where she had sailed with her husband, Cliff, who is captain of the "Gladlar." Elsie and Bill Cahill, Peg and Harsy Vaughan, Betty and Jack Dolan, were seated in the Flag Room with Emma DeLatron, Maudell Reutene, Louise Conlogue, Marguerite Parkes, Dick and Thelma Gainey, Harriet Bergman, Maribel Herrick and Helen Thomas. AT A FAMILY table were Brock and Jean Brechhold, their son, Andy; their daughters, Linda and Peggy; Jean's mother, Mrs. Maroe Blais; and Stuart and Susan Lee and their son, John Patrick. Max and Pat Cleland were hosts to Evelyn Valverde and Harvey Jackson of Jacksonville.

Seated together were Blount and Gladys Pope, Tom and Pauline Leisle, Kathy Crowley, Isobelle Varebrook and Joe and Harriet McClernon. The Women's Symphony Society met this week at the home of the president, Mrs. William Becker, and discussed money raising projects for the next year. MRS. Grunwald, musical program. See you Friday, in the pink, I hope. BRIDGE PLAY WINNERS NAMED DEBARY There were 52 in attendance at the DeBary Duplicate Bridge club Tuesday in the recreation hall of the Volunteer Firemen. Franklin A. Matheson directed.

Winners included: North and South; first, Dr. and Mrs. Leonard Munson; second, Myron Accardi and Norman Meyer; third, Mrs. Edwin Wachter and Dr. Ruskin seborough; fourth, Mrs.

A. G. Besom and Mrs. Emily Jarrard; fifth, Mrs. Mickey Murphy DANNY Boreck received the Arrow of Light award which is the highest in cub scouting.

Other awards were presented to pack members. Cubmaster Anthony Svoboda gave committee members a certificate of Edgewater Reports Cub Scouts Conduct Meeting By SADIE GRIMM DELEON SPRINGS The Cub Scouts of the four Dens of Cub Scout Pack 555 had their pack meeting and awards presentation Saturday night at the Lion's Den. The ceremony opened with the flag salute, led by Den 4. All the boys of the four dens stood at attention and gave the scout promise, motto and laws of the pack. George White, cubmaster, presented all the awards also gave out cards to committeemen and den mothers.

CARDS WERE presented to committeemen, chairman Chris Sorensen, Marshall Bailey, Jack Cavanaugh, James Carwile, Paul Dreggors, and Harold Drury. Den mothers presented cards were Mrs. James Carwile, Mrs. Bill Beach Mrs. Ralph Fieser, Mrs.

Willard Garrett. Cub uts receiving cards were George Bailey, Ray McLellan, Kenny Wilkes, James Garrett, Stan Given, Pat and Mike Cavanaugh, Curt Sapp, Kevin Sorensen, Gerald Fieser, Mark White, Arthur Newcomb, Bill Beach, Tim Dreggors, Freddie Peterson, James Brooke, Ronald Fender, David Pinner, Stephen Hall and Gary Carwile. There was a display of work done by the boys, shell collection, button and rock collection; various scrapbooks and other handcraft exhibits. CUBMASTER WHITE made the following awards to Pat Cavanaugh, bear badge and gold arrow; Stan Given, one gold and one silver arrow; Gerald Fieser, gold arrow; Gary Carwile, silver arrow; James Garrett and Michael Cavanaugh each received wolf badge and a gold arrow; David Pinner, Mark White, Ray McLellan, and Stephen Hall all received wolf badges; Tim Dreggors received wolf badge, gold arrow and nine silver arrows; Bill Beach, wolf badge, gol darrow and four silver arrows; George Bailey, wolf badge and gold aro ow; James Brooge, bear badge. Den 4 received the attendance badge for the most parents present.

There were 38 present including parents and scouts. CATHOLIC MISSION TO MEET DELTONA A meeting of members of the Deltona Catholic Mission will be held at the Community Center Thursday, 8 p.m. for the purpose of setting up a schedule of ushers for 7:45 a.m. Sunday Mass and to make plans for the formation of a Ladies' Sodality. All interested persons are invited to attend.

Any suggestions or ideas about church events will be welcomed. appreciation for their work in the past year. A picnic is scheduled June 12 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Putnal.

N. Bowman. MIKE SELLERS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sellers, was graduated from the sixth grade of the Volusia County Enrichment Center Friday night at Seabridge High School.

The free chest X-ray Mobile will be in Samsula at the SNPJ Hall June 16 from 12-3 p.m. There was a polka party at the SNPJ Lodge day night with music by Ronnie Luznar and the Polka Kings. Juvenile Circle members sold ham sandwiches and pie and raffled a cake. 16 Grads Receive Diplomas DELAND Sixteen students, Peter's were graduated School in from a ceremony at St. Peter's Catholic Church Tuesday night.

Malone presented, John diplomas to Cosimini, Glen Joey Forsythe, Billy Heneghan, Mark Pettingill, Michael Harris, Michael Strickland, John Kazmiercxak, Emma Basso, Barbara Candea, Susan Combs, Maureen Menotti, Virginia Lee, Pat Hennessey, Kim Candler and Estelle Vetzel. ACHIEVEMENT awards went to Glen Carlson, John Cosimini, Billy Heneghan, Michael Strickland, John Kazmierczak, Emma Basso, Susan Combs, Maureen Menotti, Kim Candler, Pat Hennessey and Estelle Vetzel. Earning awards for good citizenship were Emma Basso, Barbara Candea, Susan Combs, Maureen Menotti, Kim Candler, Virginia Lee, Pat Hennessey, Joey Forsythe and Michael Strickland. Virginia Lee will enter the ninth grade at Bishop Kenny High School, Jacksonville, in the fall and Barbara Candea will go to Father Lopez Catholic School in Daytona Beach.

Other members of the class will enter the ninth grade at DeLand Junior High School. FOLLOWING the gradua- tion, a reception was held in the parish hall to honor the graduates. Members of the seventh grade acted as hosts. Sunday at 8 a.m. a special Mass was conducted for the graduates in St.

Peter's Church, after which Fr. Malone talked on "Education." Sister Conception is the principal of the school and others on the faculty include Sister Agnes, Sister Immaculate, Sister Dominic. Sister Marv and Mrs. Walter Kuchenbauer. Tote Bag Missing DELAND Mrs.

Nevada Branton reported to the sheriff's office her black tote bag, containing two pocketbooks, $20 and some papers, were lost between the Whattaburger here and her home in DeLeon Springs after she left the bag on the outside of her car Tuesday night. BRIAN LeClair, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest LeClair was one of two boys presented an Eagle award at a Scouting Court of Honor held at ReadPattillo School, New Smyrna Beach. The LeClairs also heard from their older son, Ernest who has been promoted to Signal Seaman on the USS Brownstein, now cruising in South China seas.

Ernest is 18 and has been recommended for promotion to Petty Officer. If approved he will be the youngest sailor on board to receive that rating. Larry Byrd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Byrd was presented a God and Country Award Sunday by the Rev.

Harvey Hardin. He is a member of the local scout pack and the award was presented at Edgewater Methodist Church, where the scouts attended in mass. Members of Edgewater Civic Garden Club who plan to attend luncheon and installation at Dutch Pantry in Daytona Beach June 14 are to contact Mrs. Donald Mason for tickets and reservations. EXTENSION Homemak- ers Club will feature a covered dish luncheon for last meeting of the year, June 7 at noon at Hawks Park Club.

Members are to bring a place setting and covered dish. Mrs. Morton Born has sold her home here and purchased the New York Avenue apartments from Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bennett.

New officers of Willing Workers society of Union Community Church were installed by the Rev. Urban Ogden. They are Mrs. Ralph Menard, president; Mrs. Russell Patch, treasurer; Mrs.

Charles McIntire, secretary; all reelected; and Mrs. Roy Harding, vice president. Mrs. Harry Rosengarten has returned to her home after a couple months visit with relatives. She visited with sisters in Miami and San Diego, and with her son in Biloxi, Miss.

SAMSULA Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Hafner of Samsula and Palatka announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Kathleen, to Larry Lee Carmichael, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Carmichael, Blue Mountain, Miss.

The wedding will be June 11 at 4 p.m. at First Methodist Church, New Smyrna Beach. A reception dinner and dance will follow the ceremony at the SNPJ Lodge, Samsula.
