Nevertheless, for those who are interested, it could be noted that ABC's "Batman" in the Thursday night edition climbed to Hie number three position for the two week period ending March 20. "Bewitched" survived, and so did "I Dream of Jeannie." The latter's success was a complete surprise to me. The big flap about attracting the "younger generation" seems to have been a failure since "Shindig" and "Hullabaloo" are already out of the running.

Tha youngsters seem not to have liked the shows about teen-age girls and "The Patty Duke Show," "Gidget" and "Tammy" are all expected to be gone by fall. However the sensational arrival of "Batman," reminds us that the young-in-mind are not yet to be ignored. Two efforts at rjuality dramatic series failed miserably to make the audience grade. "Slattery's People" an invalid during its first season and its health failed to improve when it was given a second chance. "The Trials of O'Brien" just never found its audience, Miss I.owry claims.
