McDaniel: Regional Musicians ToPlayAtVandalia The Everett Lilly family of Clear Creek will be among several area groups who will be performing at the Vandalia Gathering: a Festival of West Virginia Traditional Music, to be held Memorial Day weekend at the Science and Culture Center in Charleston. "Over 70 West Virginia musicians will participate in Vandalia 4 said Norman L. Fagan, Center Director. "We are planning 14 hours of concerts and 25 hours of workshops, not to mention the extensive craft demonstrations and exhibits on display in the center. All elements have come together beautifully and the public will find the festival a unique experience." Workshop topics for the festival include the Clay County Fiddlers, pocket instruments, women banjo players, coal mining songs, storytelling, hammered dulcimer, clogging, and a fiddle demonstration by Frank George.

Festival participants in the Post Herald region are: Aunt Jenny Wilson of Peach Creek. Merb Pitzer of Linside, Cletus Johnson of Mill Creek. Frank George of Sinks Grove, Woddy Simmons of Mill Creek, Harry Dickson of Lin- side and Mose Coff man of Lewisburg; Trent Chmault of Peterstown, E.E. Johnson of Meadow Creek, the Carper family of Gore of Princeton, the Hammpns family of Marlinton, Rev. Freddy Steele of Mt.

tfope'and Wilson Stollings of Chapmanville. Food and beverages will be available from concessionaires on a cash basis outdoors. All festival activities will be recorded and preserved for the West Virginia Archives through audio and video taping procedures. Events throughout the Vandalia Gathering will be free to the public and no tickets are required. Local Morris Harvey Graduates Announced Several area students have completed degree requirements at Morris Harvey College.
