THE GALVESTON DAILY NEWS, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBEE 2, 1920. SEYKfl GALVESTON WINS FINAL GAME WITH SAN ANTONIO Couchman Hurls Good Game and Pirates Win Easily From the Bears Special to The News. ANTONIO Sept. staged a comeback today and, hitting Davenport hard, won the third game the series, making the count one game to two, the final score being 5 to Couchman pitched excellent ball for the Pirates and had the Bears at his mercy throughout. The veteran mixed them up to perfection and in the inning in which the Bruins scored their lone run, the third, they made but one hit.

Fuller walked. Nee sacrificed, Couchmaa to Scogg'ns, Booe qingled to left, sending Puller to third. He scored on Brown's long fly to Irby iu center. The Pirates got to Davenport for two runs in the fourth and once they vera in the lead the Island City players were never in danger thereafter, for Couchman was bearing down hard in'the pinches. O'Brien walked lor the second time In the fpurth.

There was one down at tho time'. Montegut beat out an infield hit. O'Brien and "Montegut then.pulled the double steal successfully and when Nee threw wild to second base O'Brien scored, Montegut taking third. With the squeeze sign Banner bunted peat- ly. scoring.

Moiuegut with'the second run of the game. The Pirates put across another runner in the i Callahan shot a single to center which drove to the bench. Dave was the first batter up in tne chapter. Callahau stole second base. Rudy and O'Brien both fanned.

Montegut then delivered in the pinch, a. single to center scoring Callahan. Brown threw poorly to the plate and Montegut raced to third. Lee drove.one at Lear and only a spectacular play by Stewart, who raced over and covered first, handling Leurx wild throw- in approved fashion, nailed Lee and prevented another Lee smashed out a single to center in the eighth after Montegut filed to Brown. Bonner hit between first and second.

Both Fuller and Lear raced for the ball. Svith Fuller grabbing it up and'beating Bonner to first when Lear fell down on the turf. Lee made second on the play and when Couchmaif hit to sight field the pitcher scored as Johnston lost Storey's perfect peg to the pVxte. xvhich should have nailed Lee. This would have mado the third out- Couchman made seco.nd on the throw in and when Irby shot a healthy double to right, field, far over Storey's head.

Scoggins went out. Nee to Lear. This ended the scoring- for the after' noon. A peculiar play occurred In the third inning, and this robbed the visitors of another run. Bonner started the canto with a single to right and Couchman then doubled to right center, Bonner speeding home on the drive.

The third sacker. however, was-called out for failing to touch second base en route to the plate. Irby walked. Scogglns'popped out to Gross and Callahan funned. But even this piece of misfortune, cou- ple-fj- with the Bears scoring a run la their half of tho third and thus getting the jump, failed to discourage the Pirates and they kopt poundmg'away at Davenport and Stewart they cinched the game.

The Pirates play here again tomorrow and then jump back home for a three- day stand with Houston. SEVENTEEN INNINGS FOE FOETWOETH TO WIN, 2 TO 1. Falls, Sept. Fulls and Fort Worth battled seventeen innings hero today before Fort woo the same. It battle.
