Lakeview heads awards list The speech team from Lakeview competed against 17 other schools in the Platte College Speech Contest, and came away winning the most trophies and medals. Thirty- nine members composed the team this year, the largest speech squad in the school's history. Receiving a first place trophy and medal in the junior division was Denise Rosen- dahl, humorous impromptu.

Recieving first place trophies and medals in the senior division were Jean Mor- tenson, after dinner speaking; Donna Loseke, poetry; Sondra Morhman, news commentary. Taking second place medals in the junior division were Debbie Geier, humorous impromptu; Sandy Martin, poetry. A second place medal was presented to Connie Coan in the senior division for hunorous impromptu. Third place medals in the senior division went to Donna Loseke, prose; Kris Saalfeld, persuasive; Glen Wurdeman, extemporaneous, Ken Krings, informative; John Wilke, fled Finch, Debbie Krings, Sandi Griffiths and Joani Behlen in oral interpretation of drama; Ned Finch and Debbie Krings in duet acting. Making the final round but not placing were Linda Jaixen, Lynn Wallingford, Lynn Morgan, Randy i a Donoghue, Jeff Engel, Chuck Kinzer, Lori Russell, Jeanie Muhle, John Ekstrand, Kathy Lindhorst, and Susanne Jaixen.

The rest of the team was composed of Patty Feik, Tammy Wilke, Linda Koch, Plotte Feeders party Sunday The Platte County Feeders' Association will have a Christmas party Sunday evening, Dec. 11, at Elks Country Club beginning at 6:30 p.m. A short program including a beef slide presentation and remarks from 1978 Nebraska Feeder Queen Karen Klug, Columbus, are on the agenda for the evening. Officers were elected during the conference which wound up Thursday for the Nebraska Poultry Industry and Nebraska Egg Council. Reflected president of the Poultry Industry was Gil Eckhoff of Omaha. Other officers include Dick Brownell of Wakefield, first vice president; Dale Keller of David City, second vice president; Doug Ferebee of Kearney, secretary-treas- urer; Doyle Free of Lincoln, general manager. New officers of Egg Council are Dale Keller of David City, president; Lavern Dunker of Schuyler, vice president; Jim Rountree of David City, secretary; Jack Flynn of Schuyler, treasurer; and Doyle Free of Lincoln, executive.

Other highlights of the i i presentation of the Ruth Keller memorial Scholarship to Jeffery Furman of Omaha. The memorial was created last year by the Poultry Industry in memory of Mrs. Keller who died last year. Her husband is Dale Keller of David City. Named Poultry Industry Man of the Year was Arnold "Zeke" Grabowski of Lincoln.

Dr. Leunis Van Es was posthumously entered into the Nebraska Hall of Fame. FENSTERMACHER-A prayer service for John Fenstermacher, 93, of 2698 Penning Road, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at McKown Paul, and Lincoln, body lies in state. Rev, Lee Hicks will officiate. Burial with Masonic ser- vices will be 3:30 p.m. in Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, with Rev.

Graver Leitch in charge. Son of John and Philobena (Yung) Fenstermacher, he was born Aug. 11,1884 in West Bend, Wis. Married to Minnie Jackson June 18, 1913 at Malmo, he lived in Cedar Bluffs, St. Plaul, and Lincoln, where he was employed in the Havelock shops of the Burlington Railroad.

He was affiliated with Masonic Lodge 82 at St. Paul and First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln. Resident of Columbus the last few years, Mr. Fen- stermacher was prededed in death by his wife, on Jan. 26, 1974, and all of his brothers and sisters.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Aimee) Apthorpe of Columbus, Mrs. Joseph L. (Muriel) Krepel of Elba; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. BERNIKLAU Retired farmer Bohumil Berniklau, 68, died Wednesday in Butler County Hospital, David City.

Services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Knott Funeral Chapel, David City, with Rev. David Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery, Wahoo. The body lies in state at the funeral home until time of the services.

Born June 7, 1909 at Valparaiso, he was the son of Michael and Mary (Kliment) Berniklau. Surviving are his wife, Frances (Dvorak); brother, Emmanuel of Chula Vista, sister, Mrs. Maurice (Georgeanna) Ingram of Omaha. His parents, five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. A i B.

Harper, 84, Fullerton Manor resident the last five years, died Wednesday in the Genoa Hospital. Saturday 2 p.m. funeral rites will be conducted by Rev. Milan Coleman at the Genoa United Methodist Church, with burial in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation hours will be 3-5 p.m.

and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Hasch-Patrick Funeral Chapel, Genoa; 12-2 p.m. Saturday at church. Mrs. Harper was born March 6, 1893 at Ringwood, to John and Bessie (Thompson) May.

She married Elmer Harper in Monroe Jan. 1, 1914. They moved from Monroe to Genoa in 1929. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dode (Vera) Cuddeford of Genoa, Mrs.

Ted (Mildred) Anderson of Fremont; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Eldin (Jessie) Bryant of Denver and Mrs. John (lola) Snodgrass. Mrs. Harper's husband died last January.

Also preceding her in death were five brothers, Bill, Dick, Guy, Roy and Ed May; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Lulu) Sharpless and Mrs. (Opal) Sherman. Personals ROSEKRANS Mrs. James (Pearl) Rosekrans, 79, Denton, died Wednesday.

She was the mother of James M. Rosekrans of Columbus. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th, Lincoln, with burial in Sunnyside Cemetery, Denton. The family suggests memorials to Denton United Methodist Church.

HERRE Edward Herre, 88, Fremont, died Tuesday in a Wisner nursing home. He was the father of Mrs. Dayton (Betty) Camp, Schuyler. Firday 2 p.m. rites are scheduled at I.attin-Dugan- Chambers Funeral Home, Fremont, with burial in Ridge Cemetery.

NORDEEN-Mrs. Hazel B. Nordeen, 79, died Wednesday night at the Clever Lodge Nursing Home, St. Edward. Saturday 2 p.m.

to 2 p.m. Saturday at church. Resident of Boone County most of her life, Mrs. Nordeen was born May 27. 1898 to Edwin and Evelyn (Morris) Apple at Bradley, Iowa.

She married Oliver Nordeen in Albion March 27, 1919. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are five sons, Richard and Max of St. Edward, Robert of Lawton, Donald of Renton, Duane of Milwaukee, four daughters, Mildred of Salinas, Mrs. Adam (Shirley) Torson of Duncan; Mrs.

Arvenee (Patricia) Carnahan of Fremont, Mrs. William (Lois) Shields of Grandview, three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Lucille) Smith, Lola and Erma Apple, all of St. Edward; 25 grand- children; seven great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 1971; one son; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters; two brothers.
