"George Stevens: D-Day to Berlin," DIS at 9: This documentary will stand out from the many D-Day docu- mentaries that will run in the next' By JOHN McMARTIN New York Times Special Features You will be privy to a family nightmare if you tune in "Before Your Eyes: Kristin Is Missing," CBS at 9, a stunning two-hour video documentary about a runaway Michigan teenager. Rarely does television get you closer to raw human emotion than this engrossing telecast Cameras follow Nancy and Larry Coalter on a search for their 14-year-old daughter Kristin, a happy, attractive star athlete and model student. She has run away with a family friend 49-year-old divorced truck driver Bill Newville. After Kristin takes flight, her parents learn that Newville is suspected of molesting his own daughter. After 10 agonizing days, police locate Kristin and Newville.

But when Nancy and Larry arrive to retrieve their daughter, they are shocked by Kristin's passionate declarations of love for the older man. "Before Your Eyes" is the first of a series of similar up-close, as-it-hap-pens documentaries using as you are reminded frequently "no recreations, no actors." You've never seen anything quite like it. And if you have a teen-age daughter, you'll thank your stars if she's home tonight. Highlights "South Central, FOX at 8: Deion (Keith Mbulo) shows signs of coming out of his near-speechless withdrawal when the family takes in a stray dog. "NBA Basketball," NBC at 9: It's Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals between the Houston Rockets and the Utah Jazz, if necessary.

"Frontline, PBS at 9 (check local listings): "Tabloid Truth: The Michael Jackson Scandal" is an eye-opening account of how tabloid newspapers and television shows handled the allegations of child-molestation against the singer. It will leave a very sour taste in your mouth. Repeat. "World Music Awards," ABC at 9: Patrick Swayze hosts the awards ceremony, which was taped at Monte Carlo's tony Sporting Club on May 4. Among the performers are Whitney Houston, Ray Charles, Ace of Base, Gloria Estefan and Placido Domingo, France's 5-year-old rap sensation Jordy and the artist formerly known as Prince.

Presenters include professional beautiful people Claudia Schiffer and Fabio. Parents' pick "Kids Against Abuse," CBS at 8: Four children speak out about their experiences as abused kids in an outstanding special aimed at children in grades 3-8. Brilliant color illustrations are used to emphasize various points. The youths profiled provide frank and useful information that can help children break the silence that often surrounds their abuse. They also demonstrate that once the cycle of abuse was broken, their lives took a dramatic turn for the few days.

THE NEW YORK TIMES I j'ftS I I CtvH LEARN HOW A LIVING TRUST CAN HELP YOU: virtually eliminate the expense, delay publicity of probate avoid court control of your assets should you become disabled control and protect your estate from lawsuits and creditor claims eliminate or drastically reduce Federal Estate Taxes "The Flintstones" opened to a ton of hype but mixed reviews, with many critics finding it more appealing to children than to adults. But Universal said exit surveys found the movie well-received by all age groups, and the movie scored an impressive per-screen average of more than $15,000. Almost lost under "The Flintstones" rubble were strong weekend box office performances for two other high-stakes summer movies, "Maverick" and "Beverly Hills Cop III." "Maverick," a big-screen remake of the old TV show with Mel Gibson as the western gambler, grossed $18 million over the four-day weekend, while the third installment of the Eddie Murphy action series brought in $15.5 million, industry sources said. Together, the three films accounted for more than $70 million, warm' ing the hearts -of industry bean counters, who had been sweating out a lackluster spring at movie theaters.
