(DPI) Anon, the bUot growing crime In the United States, has Increased during the past decade between OH percent and'300 percent, a police and fire investigator said Monday. Samuel S. Cobb, assistant director of the Tidewater Regional Police Academy at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, said arson causes insurance premiums to increase and cost industry several billion dollars each year. Speaking before a group of about 60 persons from seven states attending a Nebraska State Fire and Arson Investigation Conference, Cobb said fires are motivated by hatred, spite and revenge and injure more persons each year. "Willie, the pyromaniac watches the fire burn with that silly grin on his face," Cobb said.

"If you see Willie once or twice or three times, well if you don't pick Willie up and talk to him, he'll burn your whole town down." He said three major problems arc involved in attempting to investigate arson. "Apathy on the part of John Q. Citizen, who doesn't want to become involved. He doesn't want to say anything against his neighbor, who might be involved in the fire," Cobb said. "And the second is permis- sivenett on UM put o( otrtMo public officials, who taw turned their backi on the problem and think it wU go away.

And thirdly procrastination, putting off today and saying, 'We'll take care of It next week and we didn't send man to this conference, but we'll send a man to the next one'." The conference, which ends Thursday, is sponsored by the division of continuing studies at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and the Nebraska chapter of the International Association of Arson Inves- tigators. Man is chared in revolving door incident LINCOLN, Neb. (UPI) The Lincoln Airport Authority Tuesday scrapped the Idea of changing the name of the Lincoln Airfield to Lindbergh Field. Board members noted San Diego has a Lindbergh Field. Dick Joyce, one of the board members, said he was certain the Federal Aviation Administration would not tolerate two fields with the same name.

He also cited the costs that would be involved with making the change as well as the trend of cities to abandon airport names other than those of the cities themselves.
