Details of the new acquisition, known for some time be under way, were disclosed by John D. Murchison, a partner in the Dallas family concern. The purchase involves 358,701 of Gulf Life's 2,200,000 shares outstanding, 'at a price of $37.50 a share, or a total of nearly $13.5 million. The Murchison interests last year contracted to buy 1.2 million of the 5 million shares outstanding of Life Casualty Co. of Tennessee, at a total price of $40 million.
