II. Morris, John Morris, and sureties. Fa. to May term, 1840. the common councilmen and the Whigs five.

This is a good omen. We have no earthly doubt that the voto of the State of New York will be cast for Martin Van Buren at the next Presidential election. The vote of the interior of the State tends to establish the same opinion. The log cabin hard cider cry of the whig party has already spent its force it is no go. -M The town elections in Indiana and Ohio prove that the fanners and mechanics, the real democracy of the country, will stand by the republican administration of Mr.

Van Buren. It is impossible for the federal and aristocratic principles of the whig party to prevail in a community so intelligent as that of the United States. The whigs hope force their destructive doctrines once more into power through the commercial distress of the country, by raising a false clamor as to the real causes of the present condition of the country. It will not do. The people understand that the present state of things flows, from the inculcation of modern whig principles.

It is the legitimate oiispring of their present rotten banks nnd bloated and expanded credit system. It is the natural consequence of that general and wil speculation, mcuced by the doctrines of the whig party, that credit is capital," and that men should live by their wits instead of the honest, industrious, and useful avocations of life.
