lowber last nltfht preicheil on "Thfi Trembling: Governor," taking his text from the twenty-rlfth Averse ol Acts, xxlv: "Paul reasoned of riKhteousnese, temperance aad judgment to come. Felix trembled, and said: At a more convenient season 1 will call for thee." In his Introductory remarks Dr. Ixwber gaid that he had announced his subject a week -ago, and before the governor of Texas had trembled in the waters of the gulf. The doctor said in substance: "Governors do not usually go to hear preaching. It was by strange providence Cim Paul was brouRht before Felix, and that Felix was brought before Paul.

Preachers do not usually go to (rovernors and rulers, because they, as a rule, do not listen, and the preacher does not want his message rejected. Spurgeon was the greatest preacher in England, and even Queen Victors never heard him. It is said that none of tho royal family ever entered the Kntit -tabernacle. FeJix -would not have heard Paul 11' Paul had not have been brought before him as a. prisoner." Dr.

then explained the terms righteousness, temperance and judgment to come. "Temperance in this said he, "does not mean abstinence from Intoxicating drinks. It means self control. Felix and DruslUa certainly lacked self control. Felix had been a slave, and had lioen elevated by the young emperor to the position of the governor of Judea.

Drusllla belonged to the Herodian family, had Inherited all the vices of thai I family. Beyond this, she Is an accomplished singer nnd a careful artist.

Her voice is clear, full, flexible, of great rantre unu ijerieutly under control, it has a thrilling and sympathetic quality. It comes forth with delightful ease, but It fills all the house with melody. Her 'Rose' aria was a triumph nnd her encores of the evening were a 'dozen in number. Both are sweet singers and fnmlllnr with the demnnds of Htnf" The chorus is well trained and the costumes are very pretty. The music of this opera Is deservedly popular.
