6 MONDAY, OCTOBER 7. 1996 THE SAUNA JOURNAL ORGANIZATIONS REUNIONS FROM PAGE 5 clubs with 1.5 million members worldwide in Lions Clubs International and will be celebrating 75 years of service in Salina at the Salina Country Club on Oct. 10. HEDVILLE LADIES CLUB: The Hedville Ladies Club met at Russell's for its annual meeting on Sept. 17. Fourteen members / answered roll call. A plant was sent to Dannie Tillberg for her hospital stay. Cards were sent to Beulah Larson and Marie McDaniel. The club sold dishcloth bikinis and cookbooks at the Brookville Labor Day celebration. In October, the club will start two fund- raisers, House of Lloyd and Classic. The club re-elected Joy Benninghoven, president; Ginny Burr, treasurer; Elaine Spellman, secretary. Dannie Tillberg was elected vice president. Joy gave rose bouquets to officers and committee chairmen as a thank you for the past year. Agnes Sims will be hostess next month. Alumni and friends welcome. 803RD TANK DESTROYER BATTALION RECONNAISSANCE COMPANY: The 7th reunion of the 803rd Tank Destroyer Battalion Reconnaissance Company met Monday at Red Coach Inn. This being 51 years after the return of these men from the European Theater of World War II, the number of those able to attend was small. These men landed at Normandy Beachhead seven days after D-Day and followed through an extended tour of many European countries, coming home at the close of the hostilities in 1945. Those present included: Wayne and Jacque Thompson, Everett and Faye Cassel and Christine Crawford, all of Salina; Walter and Betty George, Independence, Mo.; Merle and Elaine Wallace, Benkleman, Neb.; Vilis and Helen Berst, Lincoln, Neb.; and Bill and Jane Burke, Orlando, Fla. A covered dish dinner was enjoyed by 58 family members. A short business meeting followed. Pictures of the area where the Mortimers lived at Wingrave, Buckinghamshire, England, were on display. The pictures were taken by Stan and Betty Plotner, Wichita. Betty is a great-granddaughater of James and Ann Barnet Mortimer. Those present to enjoy the day were Irene Mortimer, Everett, Wash.; Kendall Mortimer, Muk- iltro, Wash.; Jeff, Jolene, Jennifer and Jason Roach, Edmond, Okla.; Wendell and Helen Walker, Boulder, Colo.; Laura Luft, McKinney, Texas; Dwight and Pat Conley, Miles City, Mont.; Don and Linda Darling, Kansas City, Kan.; Douglas, Paula, Dan and Mark Darling, Leavenworth; Dennis, Pat, Kerri, Cory and Brandon Isbell, and Cris Adams, Beloit; Jan Bartlett, Hutchinson; Martha R. Fransham, Wichita; Jim and Janet Emler, Emporia; Charles and Linda Kannady, Marion; Gary Spellman, Lyons; Wm Schwarz, Noel and Billie Jo Stephenson, Larry and Jodi Gawith, Jessica and Lacey Gillberg, Donald and Beulah Darling and Gertrude Isbell, all of Salina; Bob and Doris Conley, Dwight, Julie, Caitlain and Kristin Conley, Don and Eula Spellman, Larry Spellman, Edith Sorenson, Jerry and Marilyn Sorenson, Jerry L. FAMILY MORTIMER REUNION: The 31st annual James and Ann Barnet Mortimer and William and Annie Mortimer Jones Family Reunion was held May 26 at the Gypsum Community Building. HRABE VALEK REUNION: The Hrabe-Valek reunion was held on Sept. 1 at the City Hall in Stockton. Host families were Delores Hrabe O'Rorke and family, granddaughter and great-grandchildren of Frank and Anna Hrabe. Delores O'Rorke lead us repeating the Lord's Prayer.
