A total of 373 units was collected for the Central Plains Region. This left a total of 12 units short of meeting the goal set for our area. The local radio stations were supportive of our yearly "Radio Active" drive. Each donor is asked to sign in on their favorite radio station log sheets. At the end of the drive, signatures are counted and a traveling trophy plaque is awarded to the station with the most signatures. This year's winner is KZBZ Breezy 104.9, Dave Murdock, program director, was to pick up the plaque at the September board of directors meeting Sept. 26. 62 pins were awarded at this drive, including: First-time donors: Stafford Thompson, Joy Sommerfeld, Edward Dinkel, Marsha A. SALINA DOWNTOWN LIONS: The Salina Downtown Lions Club has a new slate of officers for the 1996-97 fiscal year, which started in July. Jim Ravencamp, owner of General Air, Mechanical and Electrical Contractors, was elected president. Kim Fair, ex- ecutive director of Hospice of Salina, is vice president, and will be in line for the presidency for the year 1997-98. Deanie Olson will continue to serve as the club's secretary-treasurer. The Salina Downtown Lions Club has an office at 119 E. Iron. Meetings are held each Wednesday at noon, at Heritage Hall in the Bicentennial Center.
