Chances are her hus- band-producer-son'g- writing partner won't be holding hands with Twain at other public functions either. ,' "He never comes with me," Twain tells Country Weekly magazine. "I don't think he ever will, and I totally understand where he comes from.' "He's a very humble guy and basically doesn't want to be a star. He just wants to be a person who makes the music." Lange has made music for Def LeppaM and Bryan Adams, and he was behind Twain's multiplatinum "The Woman In Me," which produced four No. 1 singles, including "Any Man of Mine." ' * i Don't high-five the drummer NEW YORK — The 20-somethings wfto play devoted fans of the Wonders in Tom Hanks' directorial debut, "That Thing You Do," had to be coached in the fine art of '60s dancing and decorum: Mashed potato in, head-banging out. ••' "It's really a matter of explaining to them what they cannot do," Hanks told Entertainment Weekly in its Oct. 11 issue. "It's hard when you're talking to an audience of 300 people and one of the first things you have to say is, 'Look, please 'do not high-five each other. High-fiving did not exist in 1964.'" '' Only later, he added, when the sceneiis done and the bouffant wigs come off, "de I actually get to see all their tattoos." :' rr Hunt is on to replace Mac". NEW YORK -^ WANTED: Mischievqus yet lovable prankster wanted to fill snea,k- ers of departing child star. Applicants should have strong vocal cords, angelic smile, devilish mind. Blond hair a plus. About a thousand would-be stars — and their parents — turned out for a "Home Alone III" casting call Saturday, bright-eyed and eager to ham it up for Hol- CULKIN lywood. They were vying for the mantle of Macaulay Culkin, the child star who, at 16, is no longer quite right for the lead role.V Saturday's audition was just the start for 20th Century Fox's search for the heir to Culkin's crown. The studio also plans open calls in Los Angeles, Seattle and Chicago; From Wire Service Reports T ADVICE He doesn't have to hit you to be a lousy husband Dear Ann Landers: Six months ago, I left my husband after 26 years of marriage. No one can understand why, and I haven't 0 told them. "George" seemed like a perfectly fine husband. He doesn't drink or do drugs. He never ran around on me. He never hit me or the children. He went to work every day and turned his paycheck over to me. Sounds like a great guy, doesn't he? Well, keep reading. His personal hygiene habits were terrible. I had to practically hit him over the head to get him to take a shower. He smelled like a goat. He never showed any affection toward me or the children. In fact he ignored us. It's been 10 years since we had sex. He said he didn't need it ANN LANDERS Creators Syndicate Inc. and told me to stop nagging him about it. I asked George repeatedly to get counseling, but he insisted he was perfectly content and nothing was wrong with our marriage. Since I moved out, the house has not been cleaned, the dishes are stacked in the sink a.nd there is dirty laundry piled up all over. He has not made a house payment in six months, so the .bank is foreclosing. When I asked why he failed to make the house payments, he said, "I want to wreck your, credit along with mine." I am struggling financially, but I'm finally happy. My children are adults, so I don't have to worry about supporting them. I'm now responsible only for myself, and it's wonderful. People ask me how I could leave a man who never did anything bad. My answer is "He didn't do anything good either." Some folks look at me like I'm nuts. Am I? — Houston, Texas Dear Houston: A husband doesn't have to beat a woman in order to be a TV TONIGHT lousy husband. George was a slob. He also was mean-spirited and punitive. There was no sex for 10 years. He ignored you and the kids and tried to wreck your credit. The guy sounds like a creep to me. You ask if you are nuts to leave him. My question is, what took you so long? Dear Ann Landers: I have a cousin who was hospitalized recently and needed several blood transfusions. The hospital asked all the relatives to donate blood, and I was happy to do it. However, it dawned on me I did not know my blood type and had no idea if it was compatible with my cousin's. I was surprised to find most of my friends did not know their blood types either, nor did they realize their doctors would not necessarily have this information. You have to take a special test to learn your blood classification. It is also a good idea when you have your blood typed to find out what blood types are not compatible with yours. I think it would be a great idea to hawe blood classifications clearly stated on our driver's licenses and have the insurance companies notified as well. What do you think? — Los Angeles Accountant : I Dear L.A. Accountant: Your suggefe- tion that blood type be stated on all driver's licenses is an excellent one. In Illinois, the reverse side of the driver's license provides a form to indicate if ofle wishes to become an organ donor. It includes a space for blood type, although filling it out is optional. I do not know my blood type, but I'm going to find out very soon. /i Dear Readers: National Depression Screening Day is Thursday.
