Saturday-Sunday TV Highlights Saturday Evening At 8 this evening on Channel 4 you can see a 1953 movie, "Niagara," featuring the late Marilyn Monroe and Joseph Gotten. At the same hour, on Channel 9, you can hear the music of Lawrence Welk and his gang. Matt Dillon, on the "Gunsmoke" show, Channels 5 and 13, 9 p.m., has a little trouble with a fella named Chance Hopper. It seems that Chance and Matt were raised by the same foster parents, and then proceeded to get on opposite sides of the law. On the boxing show, Channel 9, at 9 p.m., a fella named Go- meo Brennan is gonna try to whale the daylights out of one named Rubin Carter. Gomeo and Rubin are middleweights. Sunday Evening The Ed Sullivan show this evening at 7 on Channels 5 and 13 will offer considerable variety. There will be acts from Italy, Israel, England, Hungary, Germany, France, Russia and Spain. The "Real McCoys" show sounds interesting. That little boy, Greg, who is the son of that charming widow who has come into Luke McCoy's life, decides he'd like Luke for a father, but finds out his mother may marry a fella from Cleveland. "Sweet Bird" ran on Broadway and the road for more than two years, and four of its stars, Paul Newman, Geraldine Page, Rip Torn and Madeleine Sherwood, repeat their original stage roles in the film. The story centers on the triangular relationship between an ambitious youth striving for Hollywood recognition, the girl he loves but who has been separated from him by her father, and a once famous Hollywood actress on the decline. Newman plays the young man, Chance Wayne. Shirley Knight is cast as his young lover, Heavenly Finley. Geraldine Page plays the once famous actress. Beginning Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Plaza is a double suspense bill, "The Premature Burial" and "The Brain That Wouldn't Die". Ray Milland stars in "The Burial." based on an Edgar Allan Poe yarn.
