Grab a leash and walking shoes and get ready for St. Hubert's fourth annual Dog Walk and "Canine Carnival" on May 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Giralda Farms in Madison. Adults, children and teams of walkers are invited to make the 2'A-mile trek around scenic Giralda Farms off Route 124.

The family event will help raise funds for St. Hubert's Animal-Assisted Therapy program in which trained animal mascots and volunteers visit patients in hospitals and nursing homes to share the therapeutic benefits of interaction with pets. Walkers are encouraged to enlist sponsors on their behalf; prizes will be awarded to participants who raise the most money in donations. The official Grand Prize for Dog Walk 1995 is a trip for two to the Bahamas. Anyone who collects $35 or more in sponsor donations will earn an official Dog Walk T-shirt.

Anyone who registers for the Dog Walk can walk with man's best friend or go "solo." Those who elect to walk their dogs must provide proof of current immunization for their canine. Pre-registration is required. In addition to the walk, St. Hubert's will host a "Canine Carnival," which will feature special dog-related activities and demonstrations. Dogs are invited to test their canine skills in agility and obstacle courses along with fast-paced lure coursing.
