Buckley, WWI vet, active volunteer James Jan-Tausch, prominent educator BEDMINSTER James Jan-Tausch, 82, who received national attention for his study of suicide among students, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 1995) at home. Born in Newark, Mr. Jan-Tausch lived in Short Hills from 1959 to 1972, when he moved to Bridgewater.

In 1990 he moved to Bedminster. He attended Kean College in Union and graduated from Rutgers University in 1959 with a doctorate in psy David J. Pasacrita, ad department worker David J. Pasacrita, 37, died Mon-' day (Dec. 4, 1995) at St.

Elizabeth Ann Nursing Home in Staten Island, Born in New Rochelle, N.Y., he sided in South Plainfield before mov- ing to New York City in 1985. He was a 1976 graduate of South Plainfield High School and then attended Middlesex County College in Edison. He graduated from The Fash--; ion Institute of Technology in New. York City, where he received an asso-. ciate's degree in 1981.

Mr. Pasacrita was employed in the -advertising department of the Daily News for the past five -years. He was previously employed by Blank Textiles in New York City as an assistant vice president. He performed at the Edison Valley Playhouse in Edison and was a mem-' ber of The Amature Theatrics of the Central New Jersey area. He was also a member of the Parish Players of the Plainfield area.

Surviving are his parents, Walter J. and Renee Taylor Pasacrita of South Plainfield; and a brother, Brian D. of South Plainfield. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday from the McCriskin Home For Funerals in South Plainfield.

Visitation is at the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services. taining the work of many influential printmakers of the past 40 years. Mr. Marsh was one of the "Red Mill Five" founders of the Clinton Historical Museum, in 1962.

Mrs. Marsh served for many years as a trustee of the museum and of the art center, as well as of the American Association of Museums and of the New Jersey State Museum. Over the years, Mrs. Marsh was also an active leader in many art associations, including the Society of American Graphic Artist, the National Association of Women Artist, the New York Society of Women Artist, the Pen Brush Club of New York, Audubon Artists, and was a founder of the Associated Artists of New Jersey. Her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art and the Philadelphia and Brooklyn museums.

Her wood engravings combine powerful design with painstakingly refined execution. She was the recipient of many awards, including commendations from the New Jersey Legislature. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1966. Surviving are two sons, Reginald S. Marsh of Thousand Oaks, and Peter R.

Marsh of Bellingham, a Janet Marsh Hunt of Lam-bertville; a Monrovia, a sister, Zulma Steele Grey of Glen Arm, five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. Private services will be Friday. A memorial service will be at the Hunterdon Art Center. Arrangements are by the Douglas D. Martin Funeral Home in Clinton.

FRANKLIN (Hunterdon) Anne Steele Marsh, 94, an internationally known print-maker and painter, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 1995) in the Hunterdon Care Center in Rar-itan Township. Born in Nutley in 1901, she was the daughter of the late Frederic Dorr Steele, best known for his illustrations of Sherlock Holmes stories. The family spent summers on Monhegan Island, Maine, with many other artists, including the young Rockwell Kent, whom Mr. Steele instructed in the art of printmaking.

The family later moved to New York City, where she attended the Cooper Union Art School, majoring in design. In 1925, she married James R. Marsh, whose family was already distinguished in the art world. Mr. Marsh's brother, Reginald, achieved fame as a painter of New York City life.

Mr. and Mrs. Marsh moved to Essex Fells. There, Mr. Marsh maintained a studio as a designer of fine wrought iron fixtures, while Mrs.

Marsh pursued her printmaking, painting and crafts. She also taught design at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts. In 1948, the family moved to Pittstown, naming their farm "Fiddlers' Forge." Mr. Marsh, a cellist, and their son Peter, now a professional violinist, and other musicians held frequent chamber music sessions on Sunday afternoons in their barn. The Marshes were founders of the Hunterdon Art Center in Clinton in 1952.

In 1956, Mrs. Marsh launched the first National Print Exhibition, and began the art center's collection of prints from the exhibitions, the "Anne Steele Marsh Collection," now con- FUNERAL NOTICES BUCKLEY Joseph 78, of Bridgewater Husband of Florence. Buckley, 78, who served on the Somerset Medical Center Board of Trustees and had served on the Board of Trustees at Raritan Valley Community College, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 1995) at home Born in Reading, Mr. Buckley lived in Bridgewater since 1957. He retired in 1983 as director of personnel for Ethicon in Bridgewater after 30 years of service. Mr.

Buckley graduated from New York University with degrees in business administration and psychology. He was a World War II and Korean War Army veteran, honorably discharged as a captain. Mr. Buckley was a member of Somerville Elks Lodge 1068. He was a member of St.

Bernard Roman Catholic Church in Bridge-water. Mr. Buckley was named Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 1972 by Somerset Valley Chamber of Commerce and received the March of Dimes' Award of Decade in 1978. He was state president of the American Cancer Society from 1981 through 1982 and was the originator and chairman from 1967 through 1983 of The Mystery Prophets Ball, a und- Dominick Fracaroli, Manville Mining manager Dominick Fracaroli, 68, formerly of Raritan Borough, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 1995) at H.

Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Sun City Center, Fla. Mr. Fracaroli was born in Raritan and had lived in Virginia Beach, before moving to Florida five years ago. He was a graduate of Rutgers University. He was a general sales manager for Manville Mining Corp.

Mr. Fracaroli served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Fracaroli; a daughter, Susan Pet-niunas of Alexandria, two brothers, Al of Bridgewater and Jack of Princeton; two sisters, Linda Farah of Bridgewater and Louise Lomastro of Snyder, N.Y. Dec. 27 at Prince of Peace Church in Florida. Arrangements are by Lewers Funeral Home in Ruskin, Fla. Margaret McCarthy, nursing supervisor BRICK TOWNSHIP Margaret McCarthy, 78, died Wednesday (Dec. 6, 1995) at Brick Hospital in Brick Township.

Born in New Castle, Mrs. McCarthy lived in Plainfield and Jersey City before moving to Brick in October. She was a 1938 graduate of New Castle School of Nursing in New. Castle, and received her bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University in 1954. Mrs.

McCarthy was a registered nurse and assistant supervisor of nursing for Jersey City Medical Center in Jersey City for 38 years, retiring in 1972. She was also a staff nurse at Muhlenberg Medical Center in Plainfield for 13 years, retiring in 1985. Her husband, John McCarthy, died in 1962. Surviving are a son, Patrick J. McCarthy of Brick; a daughter, Marie E.

Ansari, of Plainfield; two brothers, Edward Cafruny of Mill-burn and Nick Joseph of Dunn, N.C.; two sisters, Helen Malo of South-field, and Libby Kuch of East Stroudsburg, and one granddaughter. Services are 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Martha's Church in Point Pleasant. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m.

He was a former board member of the Association for Advancement of Mentally Handicapped and a former chairman of the Bridgewater Township Planning Board. Surviving are his wife, Florence Healy Buckley; two sons, Brian Buckley and Todd Buckley, both of Flem-ington; two daughters, Eileen Maule of Lake in Hills, 111., and Kathy Lime of Hillsborough; and eight grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard Church in Bridgewater. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Friday at Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville. Louise T. Fernandez, 91 great-grandmother of 6 BERKELEY HEIGHTS Louise Lillian Theile Fernandez, 91, died Monday (Dec. 4, 1995) at Berkeley Heights Care Center in Berkeley Heights, where she had lived for the past 12 years. Her husband, Manuel M.

Fernandez, preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, George Fernandez of North Plainfield; a daughter, Judith O'Neill of Harrison; four sisters, Gladys Reed, Eleanore Muehlheuser, Adalyne French and Dorothy Kirkwood; two brothers, John Theile and George Theile; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial services are 1 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Memorial Church in Watchung. Arrangements are by Cremation Funerals of New Jersey in Harrison.

Frank Boris, retired baker FANWOOD Frank Boris, 83, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 1995) at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Born in Elizabeth, Mr. Boris lived in Elizabeth before moving to Fan-wood 35 years ago. He was a baker for Browns Bakery in Elizabeth for 45 years, retiring in 1974.

Mr. Boris was a member of the Bakery Confectionary Union Local 64. His wife, Anna Boris, died in 1990. Surviving are one son, Frank Boris Jr. of Edison; one daughter, Barbara DeMartino of Fanwood; one sister, Elizabeth Martin of Florida; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services are 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home in Fan-wood, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Bartholomew The Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m.

and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mary Louise Winner, retired packer SOMERVILLE Mary Louise Winner, 70, died on Tuesday (Dec. 5, 1995) at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. She was born in Somerville, where she lived all of her life.

Mrs. Winner worked as a packer for the Bridgewater Manufacturing Co. in Bridgewater before retiring eight years ago. Before that she worked for the RCA Corp. in Bridgewater for 10 years, and before that Diehl Manufacturing Co.

in Bridgewater for 25 years. Surviving are a brother, Charles Winner of Plantation, two nieces; and a close companion, Edward F. Bernhardt of Somerville. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, Bridge-water.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Mildred Kavanaugh, 92, active in local clubs BEDMINSTER Mildred E. Kavanaugh, 92, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 1995) at her home in the Pottersville section of Bedminster. Born in Gladstone, Mrs.

Kavanaugh had lived in Pottersville since 1944. She was a member of the Tawan-ka Club in Pottersville, the Tewks-bury Senior Citizens, the Peapack-Gladstone Women's Club and the Oldwick Fifty Plus Club. Mrs. Kavanaugh was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pea-pack-Gladstone Fire Company and a former member of the Chester Chapter 175 Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, Edward M.

Kavanaugh, died in 1975. Surviving are a son, Vincent E. Kavanaugh of Bedminster; a daughter, Vera L. Wortman of Pottersville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services are 11 a.m.

Jan-Tausch was assistant to the president at St. Elizabeth's College in Convent Station from 1974 to 1977. Prior to that he was the director of pupil personnel services for the New Jersey Department of Education from 1959 to 1974. Mr. Jan-Tausch was the former president of the New Jersey Reading Teachers Association and the former director of the Reading Clinic at Kean College.

He served as adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Seton Hall University, Kean College and Essex Community College. Mr. Jan-Tausch received national attention for his study of suicide among school children and developed the position of "consultant" dealing with the professional discipline of learning disabilities, a position now mandated by law in New Jersey school districts. In 1972 he was honored by Kean College, receiving the Outstanding Alumnus Award. In 1974, the Association of Learning Disabilities Specialists created and funded the James Jan-Tausch Research Fund in his honor.

His wife, Evelyn Jan-Tausch, died in July 1995. Surviving are a daughter, Lyn Errico of Far Hills; three brothers, Steve Jan-Tausch of Toms River, Charles Jan-Tausch of Chatham and Henry Jan-Tausch of Manasquan; a sister, Anne Knisley of Grove City, Ohio; and three grandchildren. Services are 9:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Somerville. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m.

and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville. Harold Vincent Underhill, WWII Navy veteran Harold Vincent Underhill, 67, who helped found the Bradley Gardens First Aid Rescue Squad, died Friday (Dec. 1, 1995) at his home in Manchester, Tenn. Mr.

Underhill was born in Hoboken. He was a retired chief chemical operator for the former Lederle Labs. Mr. Underhill helped to form and was a charter member of Bradley Gardens First Aid Rescue Squad and was an active member from 1949 to 1980. He was a member of St.

Paul The Apostle Church in Tullahoma, Tenn. Mr. Underhill was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a seaman second class with Air And Sea Rescue. He was also a member of The American Legion, Gerald Albrego Post 327 in Bridgewater. Surviving are his wife, Mary Louise Daigle Underhill; five sons, Kenneth Underhill of Largo, Robert Underhill of South Deerfield, Michael Underhill of Bristol, R.I., David Underhill of Manchester, and Steven Underhill of South Bound Brook; a daughter, Karen Underhill of Lakewood, Ohio; his mother, Rita Kehoe Underhill of Manchester, a brother, Arthur Underhill of Manchester, a sister, Virginia Morneault of Bridgewater; and four grandchildren.

Patsy Joseph Merola, at Ford 33 years MIDDLESEX Patsy Joseph Merola, 71, died Monday (Dec. 4, 1995) at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Plainfield, he lived in Middlesex for the past 43 years. He was an assembly-line worker at Ford Motor Co.

in Edison for 33 years, retiring in 1981. He served in the Marines during the World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mary Merola; a son, Patrick J. of Middlesex; a brother, Maxie of South Plainfield; and two sisters, Anna Pisani of South Plainfield and Christine Eosso of Metuchen. Mass will be offered at 9:30 this morning at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church in Middlesex.

She was born in Somerville and was a lifelong resident of Plainfield. Surviving are her parents, Emma J.

Walker and Carl Himes, both of Plainfield; two brothers, Rodney and Jasper Walker, both of Plainfield; her maternal grandmother, Edwina Davis of Plainfield; her paternal grandmother, Rebecca Himes of Edison, and her great-grandfather, John Brown of Florence, S.C. 5, 1995) at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Newark, she lived in Ir-vington before moving to Scotch" Plains 48 years ago. Before retiring in 1984, she was a secretary for 25 years for the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Board of Education at Park Junior High School. She was a member of the Scotch Plains Women's Club and was active as a volunteer with the Fanwood-' Scotch Plains Service League. She was a member of St.

Bartholomew the Apostle Church in Scotch Plains. Her husband, Andrew J. Tully, died in 1988. Surviving are a son, Drew of Ne-shanic Station; a daughter, Eileen'; Reuter of Stratford; a sister, Margaret Berkery of Middletown; and six grandchildren. Mass will be offered at 11 a.m.

to 9 p.m. Friday at the Dooley Colonial Home in Westfield. Dorothy Goltsch Silletti, retired bank teller TOMS RIVER Dorothy Goltsch Silletti, 66, died Wednesday. (Dec. 6, 1995) at home.

Born in Jersey City, she lived in the Iselin section of Woodbridge then Kenil worth for 31 years before mov-' ing to Toms River in 1994. Before retiring in 1993, Mrs. Silletti was a bank teller for 25 years for the United Counties Trust Company. She was a member of St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in KeniJ worth.

Her husband, Frank D. Silletti, died in 1992. Surviving are a son, Frank C. of, Wayne; a daughter, Joanne M. Schlei-.

cher of Jackson; two brothers, Ed: ward Goltsch and Ronald Goltsch both of West Caldwell; two sister's, Barbara DeLuca of Toms River and Martha Crutchley of Lakewood; and five grandchildren. Ethel Mayton, at Ethicon 20 years PLAINFIELD Ethel L. Mayton, 62, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 1995) home here. Born in Rice, she lived in Plain-field for 31 years. Mrs.

Mayton was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Plain- field, where she served as an usher. She was a needle and suture opera- tor at Ethicon Pharmaceutical in Somerville for 20 years and was a member of Teamster Local 630 in Somerville. Surviving are a daughter, Vanessa M. Holloway of Plainfield; four sons, Mac Mayton of Newark and Rome Mayton, Arnell Mayton and Tracy Mayton, all of Rice, her mother, Alma Randle of Rice, two sisters, Grace Robertson and Julia Flippen, both of Middlesex; a devoted friend, Junior Brent of South Bound Brook; 10 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. Services will be Saturday at High Rock Baptist Church in Rice, Va.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 tonight at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Plainfield. Arrangements are by Judkins Colonial Home in Plainfield.
