The Dow Jones industrial average of 30 selected blue-chip stocks was off 5.64 at 926.63 shortly before noon. Standard Poor's 500-stock index was down 0.37 at 107.74. Declines dominated advances, 826 to 340, among the 1,550 issues crossing the tape. The two-hour turnover amounted to more than shares. Max Factor, which expects lower six months earnings, was the most active issue, off iy at 30 on 224,200 shares, including a block of 214,600 shares at 30.

Milton Bradley was second, down 1 at 43 on 167,800 shares. Public Service Electric Gas Co. was third, off Vi at 23 on 98,900 shares. Prices also were lower in moderate trading on the American Stock Exchange. Oil Airline issues came under heavy selling on the Big Board.

UAL Inc. plunged 2 American Airlines 2 and TWA 1. UAL officials said they were concerned about higher increases in operating costs. Some profit taking was noted in the electronics and computers. Electronic Data Systems lost '3.
