Jacob Kinnunen, Wolf Lake, dies CAMPERS AT ELKS--Two-hundred campers turned out from all around Minnesota for the second annual Elks' Campout held at Elks' Point this past week. Car fire kills three MOUNT VERNON, S.D. (AP) Three members of a South Dakota family burned to death Tuesday after their car collided with a pickup truck and burst into flames.

He was born in Tordenskjold Township Aug. 26,1875 a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeppe Mortenson and lived there until moving into Underwood 18 months ago. He married Karine Nygaard in 1910.

She died in 1950. Mr. Mortenson had served on the District 95 school board, i i Association, Holstein Breeders Association, Tordenskjold church board and was a member of the Danish Brotherhood Lodge. He leaves two sons, Carter and Joe of Underwood; three grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Arrangements by Olson Funeral Home.

She was married May 7, 1913, at Elizabeth and farmed near Erhard until 1949 when they moved into Erhard. He died in 1968. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Ray (Mabel) Sha of Pelican Rapids, Mrs. Ervin (Gladys) Zimmermann of Elizabeth, Mrs.

DFL contest in making CLOQUET, Minn. (AP) There may be a primary con- test for nomination as DFL Senate candidate in District 14. A member of the Wolf Lake fire department for 25 years, he was chief at the time of his death. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs.

Joyce Ramsay of Clarkfield, a son, Walter of Anchorage, Alaska, two grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Llala Peterson of Wolf Lake. Arrangements by the Kampsula Funeral Home. Kenneth Niemela, N. Y.

Mills, dies NEW YORK MILLS Kenneth Niemela, 48, died unexpectedly July 1. The funeral will be held at the Apostolic Lutheran Church Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. George Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Niemela was born at New York Mills March 2,1924, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Asher Niemela. He was married at New York Mills to Eva Hepokoski Dec.

23, 1950. Except for three years when he managed the Gully Farmers Elevator he had lived all his life in the community. He had been a bookkeeper for the New York Mills Farmers Elevator and at the time of his death was auditor for the Grain Terminal Association. He served three years with the armed forces during World War II and was a member of the New York Mills VFW post. Surviving are his a daughter, Mary, at home; five sons, Mark in the armed ser- vices in Korea; Michale, Matthew, Jonathan and Luke, at home; his parents, Asher Niemala of Brainerd and Mrs.

He was employed by -Dayton Company of Min- neapolis prior to his marriage and moved to Portland where he had been a salesman. Mr. Nelson was a WW II veteran. He leaves his wife; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Oaks also of Port- land; and three brothers, Dewey of Minot, N.D., William of Portland and Leonard of Redondo Beach, Calif.

(Journal photo by Bruce Bakke) Man drowns near Barnum BARNUM, Minn. (AP) A 65-year-old man drowned Tues- day evening at Hanging Horn Lake near Barnum, in Carlton County. The name of the victim was being withheld until relatives had been notified. The sheriff's office said someone near the bike heard a splash, saw the victim swim- ming and then disappear. No other details were available.

The body was recovered some 2Vz hours after the acci- dent. Diily toirnl July 5, 1972 2 Deer Greek native dies in Arizona Floyd Carl Wolden, a native of Deer Creek and a former resident of Malta, died Jdne 15 at Page, Ariz. The funeral and burial took place at Wallace, June 20. Mr. Wolden was born at Deer Creek May 7, 1900.

Surviving are his wife, his mother, Mrs. Francelia Wolden who resides at a rest home at Harlem, two brothers, William of Glasgow, and Marlon of Boise, Idaho, and three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Miller of Chinook, Mrs. Hazel Klovstad of Malta, and Mrs. Ruby Durocher of Cutbank, Mont.

Residence destroyed SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (AP) Two unrelated fires Tuesday destroyed a residence and a hay storage barn in this southeastern Minnesota com- munity. The home and belongings of the Ted Back family were de- stroyed by one blaze. The fami- ly of five was vacationing at the time. A fire later in the day razed the barn owned by the Spring Valley Sales Barn Co.
