The tour started in March and finishes in December. "The crowds have been fantastic everywhere we've gone." she said. "We love performing, but I admit I'm starting to look forward to December and a little break." How to Increase Tourism 101 BELGRADE, Yugoslavia — She's plugged clothes and restaurants. Now Claudia Schiffer is promoting the tiny Adriatic republic of Montenegro. The supermodel is on her first visit to the Yugoslav republic to make commercials and videos for a tourism campaign. "It is a beauty the world knows little about," Schiffer told reporters Thursday. The Montenegrin government is hoping Schiffer will lure tourists to the republic's sandy beaches and mountains. Yugoslavia — now comprising Serbia and Montenegro — was under international sanctions until this week because of its role in the war that followed the breakup of Yugoslavia. That kept tourists with foreign currency from visiting the region. Geldoff renews custody fight LONDON — Mum's the word in the custody battle over rock philanthropist Bob Geldofs children. Judge Dame Brenda Hale on Thursday issued a gag order on the proceedings over Fifi Trixibelle, 13, Peaches, 6, and Pixie, 3, Geldofs children with his ex- wife, Paula Yates. Geldof, 41, and Yates, 36, divorced this summer, apparently amicably. Yates' lover, Australian rock singer Michael Hutchence, moved into the London home- Geldof once shared with Yates, and Geldof moved into Hutchence's nearby home. But Geldof, creator of the 1985 Live Aid concerts, sought custody last week after police allegedly found opium in Yates' home. From Wire Service Reports T ADVICE Smokers should keep their butts where they belong Dear Ann Landers: I would like to relate a random act of kindness story in which I had the privilege of participating. Seventeen years ago, our first granddaughter was horn. After ascertaining that mother and newborn were OK, I was obliged to take my two grandsons to my company's big annual picnic. We left the event a little early because the boys were anxious to see their new baby sister. When I took them to the hospital washroom to get some of the "picnic" off their hands and faces, I was surprised to see a man's beautiful gold and diamond ring lying on the counter. I asked around the adjoining waiting room to see if anyone had lost it but received no response, ANN LANDERS Creators Syndicate Inc. so I left the ring at the main desk along with my name and phone number. We had hardly returned home when the phone rang and the voice asked if I was the person who had found his ring. He was almost tearful in his gratitude. He said, "My name is Frankie Carle, and I would like to give you a nice reward." I refused to accept anything and said I had been one of his fans when he was a very popular pianist during the golden band era. I even had several of his albums in my collection. He said he would leave his latest album with our daughter at the hospital when he visited his wife on the same floor. I still have, and treasure, the album on which he wrote, "A million thanks to you for finding and returning my diamond ring, which is precious to me. It was given to me 20 years ago by my dear wife. Thanks again, and I hope this album brings you much enjoyment." TV TONIGHT Needless to say, I was thrilled. — A Random Actor in Burbank Dear Burbank: What a delightful story. Thanks for writing. Dear Ann Landers: You are sure to receive an avalanche of response to the horrified San Diego parent who suddenly noticed a cigarette butt in her toddler's mouth at a playground. A few months ago, while driving along a highway, something white along the shoulder of the road caught my eye. At first, I thought it was salt residue from the winter. When I stopped for a light, I realized that what I had seen for miles was thousands of cigarette butts. Ironically, as I looked up, the driver ahead of me Hipped his cigarette butt out the window. With no more thought than is given to wiping away a mosquito, smokers routinely flip their cigarette butts on the sidewalk, at the beach, at the park and on the street. Perhaps they don't think one little butt will make an impact. Well, one little butt multiplied by thousands adds up to one huge, disgusting heap. Living on a busy street and now on a busy country road, I have learned that the worst litter pigs are smokers, followed closely by drinkers. Every day, I find cigarette butts and wrappers, beer cans and liquor bottles in my front yard. In my opinion, we should put a much heftier tax on cigarettes and liquor to pay for the cost to clean up our highways, parks and public areas. Thanks for printing my letter. I feel better already. — Robert in Marine City, Mich. Dear Robert: You spoke for millions of people today, and I'll bet they feel better, too. Thank you. Gem of the Day: Resist the temptation to tell your friends about your indigestion. "How are you?" is a greeting, not a question.
