which they entered the area they attempted to ford the creek They became stuck in the turbulent water and the engine stalled Water had risen to the windows of the truck when they decided to swim for Inter Lake) John A Morton 63 passed away at his home in Bigfork I Thursday Mr Morton was born Aug 1 16 1900 the son of Charles and Mary Newton 'Morton He was a veteran of World War 1 and with the excep tion of time spent in the Ar my and from 1943 until 1957 in Toledo Ohio where he was employed by the In ternational Harvester Co had spent his entire life in the lathead Valley Mr Morton had been in ill health for the past sev eral years He was preceded in death by his father in 1940 and by his mother in 1945 and a brother James Morton in December of last year He is now survived by one of years later farming north of Cut Bank In 1946 he moved to Kali spell and was employed in construction work on the Hungry Horse Dam working serving as pallbearers since in neavy consiruciiun and aj one and one half Mr Meyer was born in times It came to rest a Coraopolis Penn and spent tree stump his youth that state ne made his home in various places in the United States until he came to Montana when he was employed by the Anaconda Co in Ana conda He moved to Troy in the early 1940s and engaged in the lumbering business for a time and was later em ployed by the orest Service In 1946 Mr Meyer was employed by the Great Northern Railway in the track department He was a single man and is survived by one sister Mrs Zimmerman of Shreveport La uneral services are pend ing at the Catron uneral years old she moved to South Dakota where she grew to woman hood She graduated from Brookings Normal College in 1891 and taught school in South Dakota for several years In 1905 she moved to Havre where she made her home until coming to White fish in 1907 In 1914 she moved to Eureka and taught school near there for several years before moving to the West Coast where she made her home for several years later returning to this area making her home in Spokane Eureka and Whitefish until moving to the Immanuel Lu theran Home 1957 she had made her since Mrs Stevens was a ber of Whitefish Methodist Church Mrs Stevens was preceded in death by three sons She is survived by three sons Jack Stevens of Eu reka Glenn A Stevens of Harold Stevens of San rancisco and one daughter Mrs Vem Brown of Whitefish nine grand children and 18 great grand children The body Is at the Wag gener Campbell uneral Home and will be taken to the Catron uneral Home for services Tuesday at 2 pm ollowing the
