Mis. Con stance De Mille, widow of the late producer-director Cecil i De Mille, died last night in the a i home Hollywood. Laughlm Patk distuct Sh wa: 87. Mrs. De Mille had been in poor health for seveial years and recently contracted a seveie case of pneumonia.

Her noted husband died of a heart attack Jan. 21, 1959. Born in New Jersey Mrs. De Mille was born Apul 27, 1873, East Oiange, N. J.

She became an actress over the protests of her father, Judge Frederic Adams of the New Jersey State Court of Errors and Appeals She met De Mille, than an ac- toi, when both appeared in the Washington, D. production of Charles Frohman's "Hearts and Trumps The couple was married Aug 16, 1902, by Judge Adams in the bride's home in East Orange For their honeymoon, the newlyweds went on tour with Soiherp's Company of "If I Were King In the course of this tour, they visited Los Angeles in 1903--the area later to become the scene of De Mille's gieat scieen triumphs. The De Milles spent the early of their married life in New York City, where he was a playwright, stage producer and director Mrs De Mille soon left the stage for good to become a housewife mother, ultimately a civic leader.
