Wisconsin DoLand 6th Ma pit, Sanford NEW SMYRNA BEACH City officials were elated yesterday over the possibility of landing a minor league team for spring training here next year. City Mgr. Walter Slattery disclosed he had conferred this week with high officials of a major league ball club. The city manager said he couldn't name names but "there is little doubt the team wants to send some of its farm clubs here and all we have to do is come up with the facilities." THERE IS LITTLE doubt the city will have facilities before another spring time rolls around. Work is in prog ress on two diamonds and $10,000 worth of lighting at the municipal airport now.

Slattery was particularly happy over the fact the big league club "contacted us. We didn't go to them. As soon as they heard we'd acquired the airport here from the Federal Govt they got in touch with us." Slattery said it was the same team the city talked with last year.
