Majorettes Give Show For Kiwanis LEESBURG Twenty-two girls, sparkling in bright-frilled majorette uniforms, yesterday put on their first stage performance in a special program before the Kiwanis Club here. Under the instruction of Mrs. Roy Carter, Eustis, the youngsters gave an exciting performance going through twirls and high steps. Among the group were two Eustis High School majorette leaders.

One, Bette Bruce, was recently named majorette queen at the Central Florida National Baton Twirling Contest in Eustis. MAKING THEIR. debut in stage performance were the Orangettes, a class of baton twirlers from Skeen Elementary School here. Leader of the group and assistant instructor is Dawn Lorenz, one of the top majorettes at Leesburg High School. End Course, Plan Drills By ARLINE WILKE ORANGE CITY Twenty. four volunteer firemen, including one from Lake Helen, received a special course of instruction from Allen Erwin, Florida State Fire College, Ocala, last week. They were summoned to the firehouse by the call of the fire siren at 7 p.m. each night. THE COURSE included the study and use of fire equipment, certain types' of rope knots and slings for lowering persons from buildings, etc.
