An avid softball player, he was a 700 hitter and outfielder for Gulfshore Insurance of Naples. Traveling across the country, he played on nine national championship teams and was picked to the all tournament team two times. Mr. Almeida was born in Central Falls, Rhode Island, the oldest of twelve children and displayed an incredible sense of humor. He was a Viet Nam Army veteran.

He was dependable person and a loving and caring husband and father. Mr. Almeida is survived by his wife Ilona Almeida and two daughters Nicole and Angelique. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday May 7, 2005 at Noon at Chapel by the Sea Presbyterian Church with military honors to follow in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 PM Friday, May 6, 2005 at Lee Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Robert was born January 12, 1942 in Goshen, IN, a son of Opal Weaver Anglemyer and the late Levi Anglemyer. He was a painter by trade. Bob was a member of the McGregor Baptist Church in Ft. Myers and a member of the Gideon's Society. He had resided here for the past 25 years He is coming survived from indianaite, Vicky Anglemyer of Cape Coral; his mother, Opal Anglemyer; a brother, Elmer (Bertha) Anglemyer; sistersin-law, Robin Short and Jill Koza.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2005 at 11:00 AM in McGregor Baptist Church in Ft. Myers, FL. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 AM. Goodwin, 79, a native of Alliance, NC died Sunday, May 1 in Athens, GA a brief illness. He was the son of the late Mary Dixon Goodwin. He was a WWII navy veteran assigned to the Central Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor served on the aircraft carrier USS Essex (CV-9). A retired Vice-President of United Telephone Company of Florida, he was employed for many years by Carolina Telephone Telegraph working in New Bern, Kinston, Clinton, NC before moving to Fort Myers, FL in 1970. He is survived by, Suzette Aldridge Goodwin three sons: Dennis Goodwin of Atlanta, GA; Keith Goodwin of Athens, GA; Robert Goodwin of Winterville, GA; seven grandchildren; three sisters: Wilma Boyd of Washington, NC; Margaret Smith of Morehead City, NC; Jean Rowe of Newport, NC.

A memorial service will be held in Alliance, NC at a later date. Halgrim of Ft. Myers passed away peacefully Monday, 2, at the Shady Rest Care Pavilion Ft. Myers. Mr. Halgrim was born Sept.

9, 1905 in Humbolt, Iowa the son of Cornelius and Nellie Halgrim. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Mary E. Halgrim. Mr. Halgrim is survived by his two sons, Robert (Caroline) Halgrim and Tommy (Venie) Halgrim, five grandchildren, John (Joanie) Halgrim, Bobby Halgrim, Erik (Summer) Halgrim, Chris Halgrim and Audrey great (Matt) Strelo and seven dren.

Mr. Halgrim moved to Ft. Myers with his family in 1914. He graduated from Ft. Myers High School in 1926 and attended Cornell University from 1927 to 1929.

Mr. Halgrim received an honorary certificate from Cornell University in April 2005 for his achievements and work at the Edison Winter Home. He served as the first curator of the Edison home from 1948 until he retired in 1971. During his life he was active as of the Ft. Myers Chamber of Commerce, Edison Pageant of Light, life member of the Lions Club and a founding member of the Fisherman's Class at the First Presbyterian Church.

His primary hobby was collecting and hybridizing crotons. He also loved his work at the Edison Winter Home and it played a large role in influencing his life. Memorial service will be celebrated Friday, May 6th at 4:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 2438 Second St. Family will receive friends Thursday May 5th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the HarveyEngelhardt-Metz Funeral Home, 1600 Colonial Blvd. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Fisherman's Class at First Presbyterian Church.

EVALYNNE "LYNNE" G. HANSEN MAY 3, 2005 Evalynne "Lynne" G. Hansen, 85, of Ft. Myers, formerly of Lake Suzy, FL died on May 3, 2005. She was born on April 25, 1920 in Barry, MN to Elmer and Clara Espeland.

She lived in St. Paul, MN and Des Moines, IA prior to moving to Ft. Myers in 1968 where her husband was an executive with United Telephone Co. of Florida (Sprint). 1978 they transferred to the Orlando area and in 1987 retired to Lake Suzy, FL near Port Charlotte.

caring Lynne was wife, a very mother, loving and and homemaker for her family and she thoroughly enjoyed cooking and entertaining her friends and relatives. Her love of antiques lead her to open a shop in Ft. Myers until 1978. She is survived by her husband of 57 years. Kenneth W.

Born in Decatur County, GA, she had resided in the area since 1933. She loved gardening, music, fishing, and being with her family. Survivors include her loving children, Sarah Ann JohnsonLaw of North Fort Myers, Carolyn (Bill) Erwin of Ft. Myers, and Marshall (Connie) McDonald of LaBelle; sisters, Gladys Griner of North Fort Myers and Laurine Thompson of Ft. Myers; 16 grandchildren; '4 23 great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchilsofter Jerry, husband, preceded Curtis, her and in death.

Burial will be at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. DONALD JOSEPHSTEUBER Donald Joseph Steuber, 76, of Lehigh Acres, passed away on Tuesday May 3, 2005. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Donald is survived by sons Larry of Lehigh Acres, Don of Fort Lauderdale, Dave of Fort Lauderdale, Mark of Danbridge, TN, Tom of Fort Lauderdale, and Blake of Fort Myers. Also surviving him are daughters Terrie Bishin of Danbridge, TN and Chris Burns of Lehigh Acres. There are sisters and brothers as well as 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday, from until 8:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Home of Lehigh Acres, 2701 Lee Blvd. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice.

Meteorologist, 73, worked at WINK-TV from 1979 to 1987 BY KEVIN LOLLAR Retired Air Force meteorologist John Campbell was a calming influence for his younger colleagues when he arrived at the WINK-TV newsroom in 1979. "I'd had 10 years of meteorology experience in radio up north, but this was my first TV job, and some days I think I left a puddle on the floor," said meteorologist Jim Reif, who came aboard WINK about the same time. "John had never done TV either, just the Air Force. I watched him and said, 'If he can do it, I can do "He was just a very easygoing guy.

His motto was 'relax and enjoy the weather." Campbell, who died April 28 at the age of 73 after a long illness, was, born in Hartford, Conn. After graduating in 1952 from Parks College in East St. Louis, he joined the Air Force and served as a meteorologist for 20 years. Upon retirement as a lieutenant colonel in 1972, Campbell and his family moved to Punta Gorda. He worked as an on-air meteorologist at WINK from 1979 to 1987.

"He was just an awesome guy to work with," WINK anchor Jim McLaughlin said. "I think he was our first meteorologist. "Before that, we just had a weather lady. He gave us quite a bit of credibility." One particular segment of Southwest Florida became Campbell's biggest fans. "He was extremely popular with seniors," Reif said.

"He was very down to earth. When he left in 1987, we had a bunch of calls from seniors saying, 'We're sure going to miss him." Campbell is survived by his wife of 43 years, Frances Campbell of Punta Gorda, and his children, James, Sandra and Steven. 41 is named, died Monday, less than two. weeks after receiving an honorary degree from Cornell University's alumni association. He was 99. Halgrim led a prolific life as a local celebrated plant breeder and horticulturist who was good friends with the Edisons before becoming curator of their winter home for two decades. In the 1920s, when Halgrim was a teen working at his father's theater in downtown Fort Myers, he met Edison.

The young Sea Scout caught Edison's attention, and the famed inventor asked him to teach his grandchildren to swim. After Halgrim graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1926, he went to work for Edison. In 1927, with Edison's encouragement, Halgrim studied botany at Cornell University for two years, but never earned a degree. Halgrim remained friends with the Edisons and in 1948 became curator of their home. While there, he collected Edison inventions and convinced the city to open a museum.

Halgrim retired in 1971. "He loved the Edison home. He loved what Edison did," said his son Robert P. Halgrim, 62, of Alva. "It meant an awful lot to him.

He even spent his vacations looking for artifacts." The younger Halgrim followed in his father's footsteps and succeeded as curator. He worked at the estate 25 years until his retirement in 1994. "He lived a long and fulfilling life," his son said. Robert C. Halgrim was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, and is survived by his two sons, Robert and Tommy; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
