Hegeman, 34, of North Branch, a Somerset Hospital staff physician, last night in Municipal Court was found guilty of drunken driving and assault and battery. Magistrate Irving W. Rubin fined the doctor $205 and re voked his license for two years for drunken driving and fined him $110 on the assault and battery charges. Both sentences have been stayed pend ing an appeal. Both charges were filed by Patrolmen Raymond Purnell Jr.

and Daniel Snowhill, who arrested Dr. Hegeman March 9 at Stelton Rd. and Metlars Lane Ext. where the doctor had driven after leaving a party at the -Far Hills Inn, Bridgewater. The patrolmen claimed Dr.

Hegeman scuffled with them after being brought to Police Headquarters for a sobriety test. A hearing on the charges was held March 15. In announcing his decision, Magistrate Rubin said he "was occupied with a disturbing awareness of your (the doctor's) good standing in the community and professional attributes," but he noted that "if the judicial function does not respond to the image of justice, namely, the wearing of a blindfold as to parties and measuring upon its scales the weight of creditable testimony, our society will soon find itself impoverished." Simon Epps and Ronald Pa- tillo, both of 1534 V. Fourth Arbor, were both sentenced to 30 days in the workhouse and placed on probation for one year for stealing a car. They received credit for five days spent in jail awaiting trial since their arrest Legal Notices To Whom It May Concern: I will no longer be responsible for debts contracted bv my wife Helen Mangrum.
