By HUGH DELANO Bernardsville Don Ferry is Bernards High School's new director of athletics. The Board of Education last night appointed the 33-year-old former Rutgers University athlete to the post to fill the void created by the resignation last month of veteran Bernie Kopp. KOPP HAD HELD the athletic director's job for 20 years. He remains on the faculty as a health and physical education instructor. Ferry's designation as Bernards athletic chief also includes the title of coordinator of student activities.

The newly appointed athletic director has spent his entire scholastic coaching career here and in seven years has earned a high degree of respect for the successful manner in which he has guided the destinies of the Mountaineers' freshmen football and basketball teams.
