and Mrs. S. A. Douglass and Alberta and Clyde, called at the G. W.

Douglass home Sunday afternoon. Misses Mina Mowatt, Bessie Stone, Mary Ballantyne, Mike and Alex Mo watt, and John Ballantyne spent Wilsey camp came up and confered the work in an acceptable manner. A number from the Burdick camp were also present. After lodge was closed all went to the restaurant where a lunch was served. Fred Boyer, Lorene, Raymond and Elmer went to Riley Saturday to visit a few days before they move to their new home in Harveyville.

Mrs. Horace Wakefield who lives between Delavan and Wilsey died at her home Sunday night after a long spell of sickness. The funeral was held in Wilsey Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Eliza Petersen spent Monday and Tuesday at the Wakefield home.

Ray Martin came home from his schohol work in Topeka to spend Easter vacation. Kendall drove to Council Grove Friday on business. Friday was Mrs. E. Czanowsky birthday and quite a number of her friends gathered at their home to help celebrate the occasion.

The evening was spent in a social way after which a nice lunch was served. All present leport a very nice time. The township board met at the bank on Monday, the 2nd to transact some business. Quite a number from Iitimer and vicinity attended the Clark-Whisler trial at Council Grove Tuesday. There were confirmation services at the Lutheran church on Sunday, April 1st.

Four of the young people were confirmed. Miss Francis Kandt, Miss Lawrenz, Master Wulf and Master Schraeder. M. Schehlf and wife and Mr. Knuth and family of near Hope visited at the H.

R. Tiede home Sunday. L. A. Lawrenz and two daughters drove to town Tuesday morning on business.

Annual Faster Concert By Abilene Military Band. On Easter Sunday afternoon Pleis-ers Orchestra and the Abilene Military Band will give their annual Easter concert in Seelye Theater, at Abilene. Doors open at 2:30 o'clock. Concert begins at 3 o'clock. Admission 10 and 20 cents.

No reserved seats. Canada and a missionary from Africa gave an experience talk in the Rosebank church Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rohloff and family visited at the A.

A large crowd was in attendance at the confirmation exercises at the Lutheran church last Sunday. Walter Stevens and O. W. Sundeen made a business trip to Wichita one day last week. Several from Burdick went to Wil-sey last Friday night where the band boys gave an entertainment.

Next Monday evening, Aprila 9th, the local Modern Woodmen will give an old time box supper at the Burdick hall, program to commence promptly at 8 o'clock. Come out and help the good cause along, the benefit of a sick neighbor. Ladies please -bring boxes, plain boxes will be appreciated. A good short program will be rendered. Mr.

James Sleisher of Emporia will be present at this time. Come out and make his acquaintance. Admission free. Come one and all. O.

W. Sundeen bought a small farm near Chanute and will move some time this month. C. O. Bennett and Frank White were up from Diamond Springs last Saturday.

Dan McCoy was transacting business in town Monday. A large crowd met the Hen Special last Wednesday, the band played several selections and they were informed that they were the fifth band, that had played for the special and they made ninety-five visits at the different towns along the branch. The speaker said Burdick had the largest crowd that they had talked too, during the entire day. All who were in attendance took great interest in the dairy cows, and the different breeds of poultry, lined up in an ited at the R. Schumacker home Mon day.

Supt. Dixon, Asst. Monroe Book, the Misses Doris Miesse and Grace Book as also Rolland Urie were down to Marion Saturday to attend the teachers' association meetine. The Urie family and Miss Doris Miesse were entertained at dinner Sunday in the heme of J. K.
