0 ur own By GEORGE ALDEN BACK FROM Omaha where they celebrated tteir 65th wedding anniversary Labor day are Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Whitney, UO East 161h. Whila Sept. marked the actual aBniversary, the long Labor day vreekend permitted all members of the Immediate family with tlie exception of one grandson to be present. The WMtneys were married In West Lafayette, Ind., in 1906 and came to Hutcfadnson in 1919, WMtney was a construction en- ^neer until forced to retire by a heart attack in 1952. It was In 1923 that the WMtneys moved to 110 East 16fli and it has been home for almost a half century. The celebration was held at the home of a daughter, Mrs. R. A. Lovgren. Also on hand were sons H. T. WMtney, jr. Topeka, and E. B. 'Whitney, Springfield, Mo. The family roster also includes five grand- cMldren and two great-grand- cMldren. All were present except one grandson who lives in New Jersey. The Kopkes and the Ronald Smiths are leaving Thursday morning on a three-week trip to the continent with most of the time to be spent in Germany, Holland and EIngland. First stop is at Luxemburg where the quartet will pick up a car for a drive along the Rhine River and the stop at Cologne. Next will come a visit to Holland and then on to England where a week will be spent in an area weU known to Kopke. His B-17 bomber unit wasi stationed near Lymington and he spent rest leaves at a spot called WaU-Hampton House. During the past several months he has developed a half-dozen pen, pals in efforts to get back to, this hotel. Now i turns out the place houses school for boys, but there is a new lodge and the Hufcchonians wiU spend a week there with a lot of entertalranent thrown in. Two luncheon invitations have been leoeived along with one for a reoeptiloa to meet the town otMsiA.
