Staff By the numbers The following phone numbers for the Pima County Sheriff's Department were not included or were incorrect in the Qwest Dex directories now being distributed throughout Tucson: Non emergencies: 547-6911, 741-4900 or toll-free at 888-477-2328. "In light of what happened last year, we are working hard to ensure that the Pima County Sheriff's Department is listed accurately," she said. In addition to the missing and incorrect numbers for the substations, the new directories list the wrong phone number for the Pima County Jail. That's not all, Easton said. "We didn't want them to list the address or phone numbers for the minimum-security facility," he said, referring to the jail ATTURBURY Plan is OK'd to clear junk from wash Continued from Page B1 who represents the area, said Scott believes the outcome "is a win-win for all of us." Summerset will be able to develop the land and area residents will appreciate the cleaned-up wash, Howard said.

It's an important stretch of the wash, he added "the last stretch before it dumps into Lakeside Lake." Yash D. Desai, the engineering manager of the city's floodplain division, who raised concerns about the development last fall, said Wednesday that Summerset will have to comply with city, state and federal laws regulating work on washes. They include the city's Watercourse Amenity Safety and Habitat, or WASH, ordinance. The ordinance requires, among other things, that developers maintain the natural course of the wash as much as possible. Desai said Summerset must submit to the city a detailed hydrology and hydraulics report before his company, Sunny Day Pima County Jail: 547-8111.

"For that reason, we wanted them to list only the main jail address and phone." Easton said. That number is 547-8111. Contact M. Scot Skinner at 629- 9412 or Investments can begin work. The report must detail how Summerset will comply with laws governing development around watercourses, he added.

"The plan that he submitted to the zoning commission didn't have any retention" provisions -to ensure water is retained enough to limit erosion and flooding, Desai said. "Now he will have to include that in his plans." Once those studies are complete, Summerset can submit the subdivision plat to the city for final approval, said Glenn Moyer, a city planner. Barring unforeseen problems, Summerset may begin work on the project within the next 18 months or so, Desai said. Summerset said he doesn't intend to alter the course of the wash, just clean up the debris. "I don't think we'll have to do any rechanneling," he said.

"We just have to clean it up and let it be reclaimed by nature. "The land had been abused, and the wash was no longer a wash. It was a dumping ground." He said removal of the debris should reduce the problem of runoff eroding soil around the base of a Stella Road bridge.
