Cochran Dies at 81 Dr. Samuel Cochran, a retired Presbyterian medical missionary to China and brother of Miss Jean C. Cochran of 1003 Park died yesterday (Dec. 26, 1952) at Newport, R. I.

He was 81. He was born in Mendham, a son of the late Rev. I. W. Cochran, pastor, of the First Presbyterian Church of Mendham, and the late Mrs.

Annie Carter Cochran. He was educated at Princeton University, Columbia University School of Medicine and the Tropical School of Medicine in London, England. Dr. Cochran, who was sent to China by the Presbyterian Board which brought her national fame Another certificate came from Presbyterian Church, Elizabeth. Surviving are two sons, E.

Margaret Gabrielle Long, 64, one of Britain's most distinguished historical novelists best known under her pen name of Marjorie Bowen, died Tuesday in a London hospital. Mrs. Long, the author of an estimated 200 works, wrote under at least three other pen names, including George R. Preedy, Joseph Shearing and Robert Paye. In 1939, she published an autobiography, "The Debate Continues," under her maiden name of Margaret Campbell.

She began her writing career at the age of 16, and her best known works include "The Netherlands Displayed," "Dickon," and two trilogies published in the mid-1930s. One of these, on the spirit of the Renaissance, included "The Golden Roof, "The Triumphant Beast," and "Trumpets at Rome."
