10 MONDAY. SEPTEMBER 30, 1996 THE SALINA JOURNAL T SPOTLIGHT DEFY counselors recognize secretary of state for camp work Campers were able to ride horses and attend talent show at ranch Three counselors who recently participated in the Drug Education For Youth Camp that was held at Rock Springs Ranch, in Junction City, this past August presented Kansas' Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh with a framed Staff T- Shirt for the support that he dedicated towards the camp. This year's week-long camp had more than 130 kids from the Salina, Wamego, and Topeka areas and was supported by businesses and organizations. The camp was a joint effort by the Topeka High USMC Jr. ROTC Program, Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Secretary of State, and the Saline County Sheriffs Office. „ Campers were exposed to numerous activities including horseback riding, demonstrations from the Kansas High- Jamie Bethe, Southeast of Saline, Crystal Browning, Topeka High School, and Jeni McCool, Wamego, present a T-shirt to Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh. This is the sixth year that the Saline County Sheriff's Office had conducted a summer camp for youth. way Patrol, Kansas Army National Guard, Occupational Center for Central Kansas, Salina American Tae Kwon Do School and a talent show conducted by Bill, Susan, and Chris Tuzicka of Southeast of Saline School. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who touched the life of our father, Leonard Kuhlmann, during his deeling years and who honored his memory in any way. Thank you for the many heartwarming gestures of caring and concern to us at the time of bis recent death.
