A regional chairman nominates candidates for the team and then a national committee chooses the team from a pool of college players throughout the nation. Baughman, a freshman, is a former high school player from Fairfax, who scored 18 goals last season. Lay is a sophomore who played for Parkway North High School in Missouri, scoring 19 goals last year for UCF. Sophomore Gancitano is a native Flo-ridian who is praised by coaches for her aggressive play.

Baughman, Gancitano and Lay have been asked to play on the National Select Team, made up of collegiate players and senior women's league players. The national team will go to Denmark where it will train under semi-pro coaches from Sweden and Denmark. Then the U.S. athletes will play teams from Denmark, Germany, Norway and Sweden. Photographers Susan Camp Crosby, Diane Farrls, Abigail Perlmutter, Tri-cia Sample, Evon Streetman, Merry Moore Winnet and Anne Tomczak will exhibit their work through April 16 in the gallery on the third floor of the Humanities and Fine Arts Building. The artists use "hybrid photography" in their representations of Florida scenes, according to Masumi Hayashi, gallery curator.
