7 I 2 i Former State Senator CHARLES E. LOIZEAUX Read Former Senator LoizeauxJs Public Statement Below "DRISCOLL, AS THE MAJORITY LEADER, USED HIS INFLUENCE TO DRIVE THIS SPECIAL LEGISLATION THROUGH THE SENATE. "HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT THE ONLY TIME THAT DRISCOLL BHOWED HIS ALLEGIANCE TO THE RAILROADS. "On April 17, 1939, he fought for and voted for Senate Bill 304, which would have compelled the State to accept approximately $14,000,000 in full payment of this $46,000,000 debt (from the rail-roads). "DRISCOLL, on this occasion also, WAS THE RAILROADS' 'POWERHOUSE' IN VOTING TO CANCEL THE $32,000,000 tax funds due the State.

"I VOTED AGAINST THIS BILL. "MR. DRISCOLL (Republican candidate for Governor) was a Senator from Camden County, and REPRESENTED THE RAILROADS even when I was in the State Senate with him. "I SPEAK WITH AUTHORITY, because the railroad tax legislation was before the State Senate when Driscoll and I were members of that body. "SENATOR DRISCOLL WAS DISTRICT COUNSEL FOR ONE OF THE RAILROADS.

HE WAS INTERESTED IN RAILROAD LEGISLATION. "If the Court of Errors and Appeals of the State of New Jersey had not declared this legislation unconstitutional, DriscolPs action would have cost the taxpayers of New Jersey more than $38,000,000 in interest (plus in principal. "IT IS MY OPINION THAT HE (DRISCOLL) IS OBVIOUSLY THE CANDIDATE OF THE POLITICAL GROUP WHICH FAVORED RAILROAD INTERESTS. "THEY HAVE DETERMINED TO RETAIN THEIR GRIP ON THE GOVERNMENT OF NEW JERSEY. "THEY WILL NOT GIVE UP WITHOUT A FIGHT, AND MR.

DRISCOLL IS APPARENTLY THE MAN THEY HAVE PICKED TO MAKE THE FIGHT. "I feel that the people are being confused. They have the right to kno the true situation concerning the Railroad Tax Compromise. "THE MASTER MINDS WHO PICKED DRISCOLL DEPEND UPOH THE PEOPLE EITHER NOT KNOWING OR FAILING TO "SENATOR DRISCOLL'S WHOLE RECORD SHOWS THAT HE WAS ONE OF THE CHIEF ADVOCATES OF THE 1941 RAILROAD TAX COMPROMISE LAWS, WHICH THE COURT OF ERRORS AND APPEALS LATER DECLARED UNCONSTITUTIONAL. "These laws postponed the payment of the $34,000,000 delinquent railroad taxes for from two to twenty years, and cancelled entirely the interest owed on these taxes by the railroads to the State, which interest has now reached the COLOSSAL AMOUNT OF $38,000,000, part of which was recently paid.

"OF THIS SUM APPROXIMATELY ONE-HALF WAS PAYABLE INTO THE STATE TREASURY FOR VARIOUS SCHOOL AND EDUCATIONAL FUND PURPOSES. "EVERY DOLLAR HE (DRISCOLL) VOTED TO GIVE TO THE RAILROADS WAS A DOLLAR MORE THE TAXPAYER WOULD BE CALLED UPON TO PAY. "From my personal knowledge and observation, I have no hesitancy in stating that if Alfred E. Driscoll is ever elected Governor of New Jersey, and can be judged by past performance, he would be fully under control of the email group which dictated his nomination. "THE FACTS CITED ABOVE.

ARE IN THE RECORDS AND CAN BE CONFIRMED. I PRESENT THEM SO THE PEOPLE OF THIS STATE MAY HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MANIPULATIONS WHICH BETRAYED THEIR INTERESTS IN SERVING THE RAILROADS. "THE RECORD IS THERE AND IT IS THE DUTY OP THE NEWSPAPERS TO PRESENT IT TO THE PEOPLE. "MR. DRISCOLL IS CONVICTED BY THE RECORD, AND IF THERE IS ANY MISSTATEMENT OF FACT HEREIN HE HAS AMPLE TIME TO DISPROVE IT.

"AS A TRUSTED PUBLIC SERVANT OF THE PEOPLE, HE CHOSE TO SERVE THE SPECIAL RAILROAD INTERESTS AS SENATOR. HE CANNOT SERVE TWO MASTERS. (Signed) Charles E. Loixeaux TTAHM in AHV MATO CIHIAIL SHOULD PROVE TO THE PEOPLE THE EXTENT OF THE STRANGLEHOLD WHICH THE RAILROADS HAVE ON OUR STATE GOVERNMENT.
