The Cadets of coach Adam Craven, who had won only two games all year, made North Hagerstown its third victim here Friday evening rolling to a 25-0 Tri-State League victory. The win, coupled with earlier triumphs over South High and Westminster, sets up a battle next Saturday afternoon with cross-town rival Thomas Johnson while the Hubs of coach Walter Galbraith must also start preparations (or its' city showdown against South High next Friday evening at School Stadium. A a sco-eless i quarter. North put together a scoring drive only to cave in on a fumble at the Frederick 23. Cadet quarterback Bengie Biggus snapped two passes for 42 yards, then sent Aaron Duckettt on a draw play 26 yards for the game's first touchdown.

Biggus successfully took the Cadets to the air again on their next series of plays. Connecting with receiver Bill Crone three times for 39 yards, Biggus brought the Cadets to the Hub three-yard line. Two plays later, Barry Stanton bulled over from the one for the score. Biggus did not tear the Hub defense apart but receivers Duckett, Crone and Rod Bowie did. The Cadet quarterback hit on eight of 18 passes for 98 yards most of which his receivers squirmed and ran for.

North tried to put a drive together in the beginning of the third quarter but it ended with a fumble on the Cadet line. A second Hub drive ended by a Rod Bowie interception on the Frederick 20-yard in the fourth period. Still trailing by two touchdowns, the Hubs went for a fourth down nine yards on their own 44 yard line but couldn't come lip with the needed yardage. However, the Francis Scott Key defense, which has been a steady unit all year long, showed that they were not to be budged as Kelly Myers swiped a Dave Conway pass on the Eagle 20 to snuff out any chance of a Warrior miracle. Boonsboro, now 6-3 on the year, is not exactly lost for the season. The Warriors still have their biggest battle staring them in the face, against the powerful Smithsburg Leapords in a big Washington County Class skirmish next week. The Warriors had opened a 10-6 halftime margin by scoring twice in the second frame. Wayne Moser gathered in a Conway aerial from eight yards out to cap a 78-yard Boonsboro drive.

Shortly afterwards, Pearson sent his 38-yarder through the uprights following a Moser's deep in Eagle territory Until Friday aijht there wat considerable in Waynesboro to which came tint the Indians' conquest of Custer at Little Big Horn or the Indians' last reign in the Tri- State League. The doubt was erased at 10.OS PM Friday when the Scoreboard at School Stadium proclaimed Waynesboro a 20-7 victor over South Hagerstown and outright owner of the 1V74 Tri-State League Championship. The Indians owned a piece of the TSL bunting in 1966 when they shared the crown with Westminster and the Chuck Foreman-era Frederick Cadets, but Friday's clincher brought the Indians' their first ever undisputed title. It appeared that fate had a different evening planned for the Indians when the splendid blocking half of the Gonzales brothers ba'ckfield tandem, Ed, limped off the field on WayaertBi-o't first play from scrimmage. He was not to return and may be lost for the season with a possible broken ankle.

Then "Trick or Treat" stayed over an extra night to plague the Indians with five fumbles, four of which were found underneath Rebel players. They called them the Lilliputians in basketball, and they didn't appear any bigger in football togs. However, they played much bigger and with speed that kept the Rebs constantly off balance. Steve Gonzales, the Indians' leading scorer with 62 points, brought his total to 64 with a two-pointer, but left the touchdowns in the hands of George Fortney and Mike Martin. However, the "Thin Man," who weighs 148 after a five course dinner, put on a dazzling performance as he sprinted and twisted his way through the Rebels for 127 yards to surpass 1,000 yards for the leaion, the first Indian back to do since Rip Engte piloted Waynesboro.

Steve was thrown for a three yard loss and Ed was lost for the game on Waynesboro's first play, but only two more plays netted the Indians the first score of the night. Steve picked up six yards, and then quarterback Mike Small faked a pitchout, spun to the opposite side and shoved the ball against the ribs of Fortney. Sixty-nine yards later, Fortney was holding the pigskin in the end zone after having cut through the middle and zipped down the sidelines. The placement was missed and 6-0 was on the board where it was to remain until the third frame. South also mounted a threat in the first period when Dane Brewer covered an Indian fumble for the Rebs at the Waynesboro 26.

However, Chuck Hipp, almost coming up with a sensational pass reception tipped the ball into the bands of Farter for ttw terception. The Indians attacked toe Rebel end zone again in the third stanza. Steve Gonzales setup the score with a 33 yard romp leaving a wake of ladders in his dash to Rebel eight. The long run was the one that pushed him past the 1000 yard mark and enabled Fortney to elude the Rebs in the end zone two plays later for Small's 10 yard payoff pass. The Rebs made things very tense then by marching 61 yards for a touchdown as Mike Sirbaugh hit Dave Mowen with a 12 yard pass for the TD, TO 31 2-4-1 4-3 1-42 14 5-1 3-36 First downs Rushing yards Passing yards Passes Fumbles Lost Punts Kutlte 0 0 7 0 7 Scertt: Kortney.
