Pedroni, who with his wife and family recently left for Switzerland and which was mailed at New York on the 2 2d, states that they had a pleasant Journey of 4 1-2 days across the continent and all were well. They reached New York at 6 a. m. on the 22d and were to sail on Saturday the 24th on a White Star liner direct to France. I In Session The Sonoma County Pomona urange at its regular quarterly meeting Wednesday at Odd Fellows hall at Santa Rosa, went on record as favoring the united action in opposing Japanese lm migration as planned by the county organizations.

A resolution was also adopted backing up the Santa Clara Coun ty Pomona Grange in opposing the work of a paid lobbylist who is using propaganda in an effort to discredit the Co-Operative Dairymen's organizations in California, and another urging the people to Wear old clothes in fighting the high cost of living. The meeting was an all-day affair with morning and afternoon session and a harvest feast at noon time. There was a large attendance from the various subordinate Granges at Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Two Rock, Sebastopol, Geyservllle, Bellevue, Bennett galley and Forestville. Seven candidates were given the seventh degree at the morning session and reports were presented from the various Granges of crop conditions and farm work generally. John Ellis, the master, and Mrs.

Minnie Church, the secre tary, were at their respective desks and after the dinner hour the Rev. H. G. Harbutt presided for the lecturer's hour, when the Grange organist opened the pro gram with a piano solo. Dr.

J. H. Shaw gave several vocal solos, with Mrs. T. V.

Tyler as accom panist; Attorney H. E. Casey spoke on "law enforcement" in lieu of Judge Eta met Seawell. who had been invited to speak but was unable to be present owing to his having been called to preside In the Marin county Superior Court. Mrs.

Ruth F. Field, secretary of the Calistoa Chamber of Commerce, the other speak er or the afternoon. Her remarks carried home to all. The Grange accepted an invitation to meet in Geyservllle May 8th for Flora Day, an annual event in the history of the Pomona Orange work. A donation of $25 was voted to the Lytton Home and one of 1 no authority to call a strike in Invent of labor trouble, without sanction of the Federation of Labor, and when the Federation of Labor takes charge, that takes it out of the Central Labor Council's hands.

The Central Labor Council has power to treat with, and adjust all local grievances with local organizations and use every effort for a settlement, and will not call on the international representatives only as a last resort. The Individual Unions have the right to vote for their inter-nation officers to take charge and the Council would have to eanc tion them, and after that it 18 oui or me nanuu 01 an ui tucui. rne iaea is to settle our aim-culties without calling in outsiders, but some employers seem to think that it would be better to force the Unions to call on their international officers, which would very likely tie up all the trades in town. The Central Labor Council stands ready at all times to exhaust all means in its power to avoid thecalllng of a strike by the international representatives. Respectfully submitted, C.
