Phone 963J (By United Press) ALAMEDA, Aug. Hop ranches of northern California have. the highest yield per acre of any in the world, according to E. Clemens Horst, hop and barley expert. In a review, 'of the hop-growing industry, Horst declares that the hop yield in the state last year was close to 21,000,000 pounds, which sold at approximately $5,000,000.

California ranks. first among states, Oregon second, Washington third and New York fourth, he says. Average acre production, according to official figures is: England, 900 pounds; Germany, 500 pounds; United States. 885 pounds; California, 1500 pounds. Counties of California which produce most hops are Sacramento, Sonoma, Mendocino, Yolo, Tehama, Yuba and Placer.
