This is an increase of $300 over their laot ytar'm contribution. Yesterday was "moving day" for the Chest offlre. Headquarters is now in the YWCA on East Front street for th duration of the campaign. Waril chairmen and team captains report at headquarters each night. An all-YMIIA team the Service Clut offered its servlres and will work during the campaign.

This is the first time any of the member agencies has put on a team made up entirely of "members of the agency. Ionard Gldding, president of the Y.MIIA, is captain of this team. Chest headquarters received a check the other day from a contributor, who explained that she would not be In l'lainfield during the campaign and. accordingly, wished to send her pledge in advance. The riainfield Trust Company will have a Community Chest exhibit in one of Its bank windows on Park avenue during the campaign.

Two cups win be up for compe tition again. The Harris Cup Will go to the district which has the largest number of contributors. The Tyler Cup will go to the district UwIng the largest percentage of increase over last year in contribu tions. The Harris Cup was won th? last two years by the district captained by Henry L. de Forest and John P.

Stevens, Jr. The Ty'er Cup was won last year by the district captained by Mrs. George T. Her ring. Over $19,000 in contributions was the on the first report night of the canipaignlast year.

This was a "flying start," indeed as it exceeded the 1S23 first night total by about 10,000. An Idea of what a "Typical Bay" at one of the agencies in the Community Chest is like can be obtained from the following submitted by the secretary of the Charity Organization Society: 8:30 A. M. Open mail and find a letter from Georgia, asking that we immediately look up the relatives of a man who has deserted his family in Atlanta and get word to the organization immediately. iWaiting outside Is a little boy, who says he cannot go to school today as he has no shoes.

Learned that his father is sick and he has tieen staying home from school be cause of lack of shoes until he has finally been sent to the office for them. Family known to us, but not recently. Fitted the boy out si that he can enter school later in the day. 9 A. M.

Man applied at office to have his four children placed In the Xursery and Children's Home as his wife was taken to the hospital yesterday and he cannot lose time from work to care for the children. Investigation is made at the hospital in regard to the length of time of woman's' illness and children are taken to the doctor and examined and arrangements are made whereby the little ones are placed in the Infirmary at the Hay Xursery and line two ouier ones in tne Hrme. 10 A.
