SUPER DERBY XII Zeeruler is Super surprise By BILL MclNTYRE The Times A mystery guest on the Super Derby panel showed up in stall 15 at the Louisiana Downs stakes barn Thursday. Stable's Zeeruler turned up without much advance notice, arriving almost incognito in a fire engine red van with yellow stripe. Zeeruler was the seventh and final piece in the Super XII jigsaw puzzle. Assistant, trainer Dave Wilkinson ushered Zeeruler, a paternal side grandson of Northern Dancer, into an enclosure that had been reserved for D. Wayne Lukas' Corporate Report.

Still, (Zeeruler) has to beat proven Grade I winners." Zeeruler, winner of the Omaha Gold Cup and second to Discover in the Fairmount Derby, had been a world class ence-straddler the past month.

The final decision rested with "the simple fact of who was going to be in the race," Wilkinson said, "and how our horse was training. We wanted to make sure what the competition was going to be like." Zeeruler, a Florida-bred, has been around the LaDowns track twice before, and will carry a 4-4-0 record in 11 career starts over the IVi-mile distance as he pursues the $600,000 winner's purse under jockey Don Pettinger. In six starts as a 3-year-old, he has three wins and three seconds. Von Hemel, who has horses running at three tracks, will arrive late Saturday to handle Zeeruler. St Times photoMl KE SUVA Field.

Video plays a big role in what Moss hopes to accomplish in the clinic. Each pitcher pitches off a mound for 15 minutes every other day.

The sessions are filmed and the tapes are reviewed the next day. Each pitcher will also be given a tape of their pitching to take home and study over the offseason.
