SEPTEMBER 29, 1996 LIFE THE SALINA JOURNAL MILESTONES ON WEDDING DAY — Lois Blase and Merle Burger Mr. and Mrs. Merle Burger ON WEDDING DAY — Laureen Fish and Warren Young Mr. and Mrs. Warren Young Golden observance planned for Burgers 50th event to fete Youngs of Salina SYLVAN GROVE — Mr. and Mrs. Merle D. Burger are to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a 4 to 6 p.m. reception for family and friends on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Linco Commission Co. Hosts for the event are their three children and families: Gordon and Cheryl Bretz of Lucas, Greg and Wilma of Sylvan Grove and Barb Reh of York, Neb. There are seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Burger and the former Lois Blase were united in marriage Sept. 29, 1946, in Sylvan Grove. They have lived on the family farm north of Sylvan Grove since that time. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vidrlcksen Elizabeth Hake Vidricksens observe golden anniversary Salina's Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 1108 W. Crawford, is to be the scene of a celebration Saturday, Oct. 5, honoring the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vidricksen, 1421 Coronado, Salina. An open house is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. with a dance to follow. Entertaining for all friends and relatives are the couple's children and their spouses: Robert and Kathy, Marvin and Maryann, Jacque Connor and Willie and Kim, all of Salina. Also serving as hosts are Helen Haase, Ralph and Mary Haase . and Dan Pestinger, also of Salina. ; Assisting are four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The marriage of Vidricksen and the former Gayle Helfinstine was solemnized Oct. 3,1946, in Abilene. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired after 33 years as owner of Betty's Fried Chicken. The couple request no gifts. 100th jubilee to fete Elizabeth Hake BELOIT — Elizabeth Hake, 714 E. South, is to be the guest of honor at a 2 to 4 p.m. 100th birthday open house Saturday, Oct. 5, at Captians Quarters II, 121 W. Court. All friends and relatives are invited. The celebrant requests no gifts. Hosts are her four living children: Mathew Hake Jr. of Cawker City; Melvin of Beloit, Millie Bachofer of Sacramento, Calif, and Dorothy Van Pelt of North Glenn, Colo. Two children are deceased. Kathryn Reiter died in 1962. Raymond Hake died this year. There are eight living grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. One grandson is deceased. Born Oct. 8,1896, at Tipton, Mrs. Hake has primarily lived in Mitchell County. She married Matthew Hake in 1920 at Cawker City; he died in 1980. The Elks Country Club is to be the scene of a 2 to 4 p.m. open house Oct. 6 in honor of the golden wedding anniversary of Sali- nans Mr. and Mrs. Warren A. Young, 827 Manchester. A family dinner is also planned Saturday evening, Oct. 5. Entertaining for all friends and relatives are the couple's three sons and their spouses, Lee and Ruby event set for Coffmans MINNEAPOLIS — The five children of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Coffman plan a family celebration Oct. 5 and 6 in honor of their parents' 40th wedding anniversary. All friends and relatives are invited to mark the occasion by sending cards. The Coffmans' address is 723 Clay, Minneapolis 67467. Their children are Gerald. Miller of Topeka; Steve Miller of Burlington, Vt.; Donna Coffman Adee of Minneapolis; Joan Coffman White of Ames, Iowa, and Ruth Coffman Kelley of San Rafael, Calif. There are nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. Coffman and the former Edna Comfort Miller were married Oct. 1,1956, and lived for many years near Minneapolis where he was a farmer/stockman. She was a secretary with the Ottawa County Extension Service. Both are retired. 90th card shower set for Luella Noon MOUNT HOPE — Oct. 6 is the 90th birthday of Luella Noon. All friends and relatives are invited to mark the occasion by sending cards. Her address: 602 E. Main, Apt. 13, Mount Hope KS 67108. The honoree grew up in the Aurora and Clyde areas and lived for several years in Salina, where she married Tom Noon in 1947. After his death in 1949, she moved to Concordia, residing there until 1976. She owned and operated La-Noon Beauty Shop on West llth St. She now lives in Mount Hope near her daughter, Tommie Krone, and her family. Chris Young and Royce Young of Salina and Kevin and Rhonda Young of Cheney. There are four grandchildren. Young retired from Sears after 30 years as division manager. Mrs. Young served as instructor and supervisor for 20 years at the former Asbury Hospital and Asbury School of Nursing. The couple request no gifts. Clive Marrs marks 90th birthday MINNEAPOLIS — A family dinner at the Trader's Lodge in Wells recently marked the 90th birthday of Clive Marrs. A card shower is also planned. Address greetings to: Ottawa County Hospital, Minneapolis KS 67467. Born Oct. 3,1906, near Longford, Marrs lived and farmed in the Longford, Abilene and Wells areas. His wife, the former Lola Moses, died in February of this year. The honoree has four living children: ErmaGene George of Tulsa, Okla., Leon of Salina, Shirley Heald of Bennington and Marilyn Libby of Topeka. Leon's twin brother, Leslie, is deceased. There are 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. 55th card shower slated for Woodruffs Saturday, Oct. 5, is the 55th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woodruff. All friends and relatives are invited to mark the occasion by sending cards. Their address is: 902 Millwood, Salina KS 67401. Woodruff and the former Emma Jean Racette exchanged wedding vows Oct. 5,1941, at Concordia and have lived most of their married life in Salina. He retired from the Salina Journal. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fralzer Fraizers observe their 70th date Oct. 6 is the 70th wedding anniversary of Salinans Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fraizer, 609 E. Leslie. A card shower is planned. They have two sons, Scott of Wichita and Harold of Salina, and three grandchildren. Fraizer and the former Edna Boatwright were wed Oct. 6,1926, in St. Joseph, Mo. A salesman for Blish, Mize Inc. for 48 years, Fraizer and his wife lived in Atchison for 12 years before moving to Salina. He retired in 1972. She has been a homemaker. ON WEDDING DAY — Antone Relnert and Ruth Keller Reinerts plan golden occasion TIPTON — All friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Antone Reinert are invited to help them, celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
