Mr. Griffin, passed away suddenly Friday, December 24, 1999 in Plain Dealing. He was a resident of Springhill, LA most of his life. He was a retired electrician in the Maintenance Division, International Paper Company with 47 years service, retiring In 1997. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.

A. and Vera Mae Griffin and his first wife, Glennie H. Griffin on July 30, 1994. He was an outgoing fun loving man and was loved by those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his wife, family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Harvllle Griffin of Plain Dealing, LA; step-daughter, Martha Adams and her husband, John of Fallbrook, CA; Carolyn H. Ward of North Little Rock, AR; two step-grandsons, John Walter Adams of Fallbrook, CA and Leslie Edward Ward of North Little Rock, AR; brother, Jerry Griffin and his wife, Anne of Ruston, LA; sister, Leta Ambrose and her husband, Jimmy of Springhill, LA; numerous nieces and nephews whom he deeply loved. Serving as pallbearers will be Cliff Caughman, Richard Thomas, Ronnie Thomas, T. O. Thompson, Jerry Cook, Bill Boyd, Larry Williams and John Gildon.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 28, 1999 from 1 1 :30 until service time. Mrs. Hemperley, a homemaker, passed away Sunday, December 26, 1999 in Shreveport after a lengthy illness.

She was born January 10, 1906 in Delhi, LA and was a resident of Bossier City, LA. Mrs. Hemperley was a member of Barksdale Baptist Church where she was a charter member and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Women's Missionary Society and the Eastern Star in Bossier. Mrs.

Hemperley was an avid gardener and loved working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. V. Hemperley of 53 years, until his passing on May 24, 1976; grandson, Robert "Bob" Hunter and great-grandson, Barron Don Hunter. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Helen Adger and Betty Jane Hunter and husband, James M.

Hunter; one sister, Ethel Hobbs; two grandsons, David Hunter and wife, Lynda; and Jim Hunter and wife, Susan; granddaughter, Toni Allen and husband, Jerry; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one niece, Eloise Roberts. Pallbearers are Scott Allen, Jerry Allen, Adam Bernard, Jim Hunter, James M. Hunter, Jesse Hunter and honorary pallbearer, Ahin Franks. Mr. Allen, born in Carlos, TX, a resident of Keithviile, LA for 41 years, and most recently resided In Shreveport, LA died on Monday, December 27, 1999 following a lengthy illness. Mr. Allen was retired as owner and Operator of Allen Trucking Company, having leased trucks to Bird and Son Roofing Company, he was also a cattle rancher.

Mr. Allen was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a deacon Emeritus and a Veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Goodnight and father, John Allen.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Allen of Shreveport, LA; daughter, Suanne Huddleston and husband, Don of Keithviile, LA; two grandchildren, Matt Almand, wife, Cathy and their daughter, Madelyn Almand and Andy Almand and son, Jacob Almand; two sisters, Alice Hudson of Carthage, TX and Viola Jarvis of Bryan, TX; one niece, Frances Ellis; and one nephew, Allan Jarvis. Pallbearers will be Matt Almand, Andy Almand, Jimmy Jones, Larry Stokes, Billy Vandiver and Monroe Daniel. The family suggests memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 28, 1999 at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mr. Hemperley passed away Monday, December 27, 1999 at home after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Shreveport, LA, was a lifelong resident of Cedar Grove, and a member of South Bossier Church of the Nazarene in Bossier City, LA.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Hemperley; his father, Asa D. Hemperley; his brothers, John O. Hemperley and Gerald Hemperley and his granddaughter, Melinda S. Woodard. He Is survived by his wife, Farrelyn O.

Hemperley; five daughters, Karen Hemperley, Laura H. Neubert, Mary H. Gray, Donna Hemperley and Robin H. Parker; three very special sons-in-law (In order of entry) Daniel Neubert, Danny Gray and Shon Parker; three very very special grandchildren, Glenn Hemperley, Amanda Woodard and Lauren Gray, numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, very special friends and his sidekick and running buddy Wilma "Mamaw" Ogburn. The family requests that memorials be made to the Hospice of Willis-Knighton to whom the family will be eternally indebted for the kindness and dedication shown during Dad's last days. Nemesia was a graduate of Haughton High School, she completed four years in the United States Army as a Telecommunications Center Operator and was a member of the Army National Guard. Wilson died Friday, December 24, 1999. Born in Paint Rock, Texas, he was a son of the late Albert Wade and Minnie Mae Jackson Wilson. Formerly of Orange, Texas, he had been a local resident since 1993. He was an U. S.

Navy Veteran and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Vidor, TX. He was a retired electrician and member of Local Union IBEW 460 in Midland, TX. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Cayce Masonic Lodge 384 AFM, Cayce Chapter 260 Order of the Eastern Star, and also a York Rite Mason. Surviving are his wife, Katherine J.

Wilson; sons, Charles Edward Wilson of Vivian, LA, Kenneth Lee Wilson of Nederland, TX; sisters, Barbara Burgin of Charlotte, NC, Julie Windham "of Groveland, FL; brothers, J. R. Freida O. Goins died Monday, December 27, 1999 at Pinehaven Nursing Center in Rosepine where she lived for the past three months. She was a lifetime resident of Shreveport. Julia Estelle Moore Packwood SHREVEPORT, LA Julia Estelle Moore Packwood, 83, a longtime resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, died Saturday, December 25, 1999 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota. Mrs.

Packwood was bom January 23, 1916 to Alpha Harley and Flora Bertrice Moore in Haughton and grew up in Benton, Louisiana. She graduated as valedictorian from Benton High School before studying at Lynn's Business College, Louisiana State University, and McNeese State College, where she received a B.S. degree in Business Education in 1956. In 1965 she received a M.Ed, in Guidance at the University of Colorado. During her career, Mrs.

Packwood worked in a variety of positions, may of them in education. She was a teacher at LaGrange Senior High School, Lake Charles; Ridgewood and J.S. Clark Junior High Schools, Shreveport; a counselor at Booker T. Washington High School, Shreveport; and Dean of Women at Centenary College, Shreveport. She was also a member of numerous professional teaching and counseling associations, Mrs.

Packwood was very active in the Methodist Church, serving as counselor for a number of Louisiana Methodist youth groups. She was also on the Board of Stewards at Lakeview and Broadmoor Methodist Churches in Shreveport. Her most recent affiliation was with First United Methodist Church, Shreveport. Throughout her life, Mrs. Packwood took a great interest in local history and genealogy, serving on the Board of Directors of the Ark-La-Tex Genealogical Association.

She was responsible for the preservation and cataloguing of graves at Fillmore Cemetery in Haughton, and the establishment of a trust fund for and incorporation of the Fillmore Cemetery Association, for which she served as president. Mrs. Packwood is survived by a son, William T. Packwood III and his wife Virginia, Fargo, North Dakota; three grandsons, Kirk D. Packwood, Fargo, Theodore J.

Packwood and his wife Sheila, Burnsville, Minnesota and Matthew W. Packwood, Boston, Massachusetts; and one great-grandson, Noah R. Packwood. She Is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Moore, Benton, Louisiana; and Mary Dobbins and her husband, D.A., Kerrville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, William T.

Packwood, Jr. and her brothers, Kirk Moore and A.H. Moore, Jr. will be at Hill Crest Funeral Home Wednesday, December 29, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

26, 1999 after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 28, 1999 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Full military rites will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 1999 in the chapel of Osborn Funeral Home provided by the Fort Polk Honor Guard.

Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Mr. Goode was a native of Knoxville, TN and a resident of Bossier City, LA since 1967. He was in the United States Army for 30 years having served in Vietnam, Korean Conflict and WWII. He is survived by his wife, Leona Goode; two step-daughters, Artie Marie Bryant of West Monroe, LA, Virginia Swillie and husband, Buddy of Wichita Falls, TX; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Dear, senior associate pastor of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport, officiating.

Interment will be at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue. Mrs. Johns died, Saturday, December 25, 1 999 after a brief illness. She was born in Minden, Louisiana, January 15, 1911, and had lived in Shreveport since 1939.

She taught school in Caddo Parish for thirty-nine years. Hers was a happy successful career with high school teenagers. Her dedication to education was evident in the joy she felt as she worked in the area of teaching. Mrs. Johns was interested in community church and club work.

She was a working member of Chapter P.E.O., of the North Highlands Woman's Club and Delta Kappa Gamma. She served as president of everything she joined. Her ability to organize was a key to groups growing. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport for over 30 years, and worked with zest whereever she found a task. She was president of the Lucile Sexton Sunday School Class, and taught the group throughout her years as a member.

Mrs. Johns was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Johns. Both have left a legacy that will prevail through many lives. She is survived by her sisters, Louise Wedemeyer and Helen Wilson.

Memorials may be made to Chapter P.E.O., First United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice. A former resident of Arcadia, LA, Mrs. Combs was a native of the Alabama Community in Arcadia and resided in Homer, LA.

She retired after 23 years with Ball Glass. She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Holley and brother, Waymon Holley. Rev. Ira Robinson, Asbury United Methodist Church Minister of Visitation, will officiate.

Debbie Davis, Katie Davis, Heather Owen and Tristan Rennie accompanied by Becky Sopha, organist will provide musical selections. Interment will take place in Fountain Memorial Gardens. A native of Haynesville, Barbara lived in Lafayette for 14 years. She was active in many organizations including, New Comers, New Acadians, Acadian Women, Tops, Oil Wives, Petroleum Club and many bridge clubs. She was also a participant In Lafayette Mardi-Gras.

Barbara was a fun-loving, kind hearted generous "Party She was a wonderful friend, a loving wife, a caring mother and a spirited grandmother. Survivors Include two sons, Barry and Brian Owen, both of Lafayette; one daughter, Lisa Rennie and son-in-law, T. J. Rennie of Shreveport; brother-in-law, Ray Owen and wife, Linda of Texas; sister-in-law, Becky Sopha of Ludington, Michigan; two sisters, Mary Cantrell of Opelousas, LA and Peggy Pemberton of Haynesville; mother-in-law, Elisabeth Owen of Emerson, Arkansas; ex-daughter-in-law, Sharon Methvln of Bunkie; four granddaughters, Holly Owen, Heather Owen, Tristan Owen, and Britt Owen; one grandson, Gregory Owen, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded In death by her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Gipson Goree; her husband, Bemie Owen and one sister, Dorothy-Dale Cope. Mr. O'Brien was bom May 7, 1927 in JJhicago, Illinois. He lived most of his Jife in Shreveport, Louisiana. At the time of his death, he resided in Dallas, exas. He was preceded in death by his- parents, Paul F.

O'Brien, Sr. and Clara Darby O'Brien. He attended J.ogisiana State University, was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in geology and was affiliated jwitb the Kappa Alpha Order. He was a charter member of the Petroleum Club tf Shreveport, a member of the Shreveport Geological Society and a member of the Shreveport Club. Mr.

O'Brien began his career in the oil and gas business with Hunt Oil Company. He was President of Jones-P'Brien Incorporated for thirteen years. JHe was a member of the Board of Directors of Aeropres Corporation, First Porinth Corp. and Warrior Jnternational. Mr.

O'Brien was a Ducks Unlimited benefactor and a major contributor to Ihe Pathlow North Conservation Project in the Province of Saskatchewan built in 1983 by Ducks -Unlimited Canada, a founder of The Energy Center at the University of Oklahoma and a past president of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association. He was a Donor, an active member of jhe Sooner Club and an avid supporter of athletics at the University of Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Alden Obering O'Brien; his children, Paul Francis O'Brien, III of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Priscilla Alden O'Brien Haass and husband, Nathan Haass, of Bellevue, Washington, and Ernest Dbering O'Brien of Dallas, Texas; and ftis grandchildren, Kelley Leigh O'Brien, Kaycee Erin O'Brien, Frances Hailey O'Brien, Mary Hannah O'Brien and Elle Obering O'Brien. He married Omer Koonce Wright on April 26, 1941 in Florien, LA. His parents were Thomas Walter Wright and Pearl Leach Wright. He was a veteran and served in WW II Air Corp. Mr. Wright was a Deacon of First Baptist Church, Florien.

He was co-founder of Piggly Wiggly of Many, developer of Wrights Shopping Center, and a board member of Sabine State Bank of Many. He is survived by his wife, Omer Wright of Many, LA; two nephews, Thomas M. Wright of Houston, TX and Vernice C. Wright of Baton Rouge, LA; five nieces, Connie W. Ammons of Many, LA, Imogene W.
